I'll wait a couple of months and get the DVD. Watch it in the comfort of my favorite chair and not be bothered by the flashing on cell phones as people check them and text.

Not at all surprised. People like what they like. The real fans don't care that Batman movies may have helped motivate a killer. They just want to see their movie. Apathetic self-centeredness has reached new heights (depths) in the USA.

I am not suprised about the records being broken by Dark Knight Rises because it is one of the best films if not the best of 2012.
I believe it will break new records and surpass The Avengers and become the most successful comicbook film of all time.
Credit must be given to Christopher Nolan and his brother Johnathan for a great story and the cast and crew for giving us a fitting ending to The Dark Knight Trilogy.

There could be a couple reasons, one being that people are still attracted to this particular movie theme and for some, it seems to draw even more of a fascination, which seems sick, but people can be weird.

Actually surprised because it is a three hour movie. It must be on A LOT of screens. Shooting did give me an eerie feeling as I watched my screening of Batman this weekend, but that would have been the feeling watching Brave, Spiderman, etc. it's universal because the terror produced by the incident is one that I think transcends the fact it happened during Batman and goes to simple fear that should make people's hair stand on end in theaters in general.

Only a little surprising because I know a few people who didn't go see it because they thought that the event in Aurora would distract them from enjoying the movie, and I figured more people would feel the same.
