Daniel Radcliffe Did 'Harry Potter' Drunk: Surprising or Scandalous?

Daniel Radcliffe seems like such a sweet kid when he's rocking the Harry Potter glasses and waving his wand at Death Eaters (maybe not so much in "Equus"), but now that the "Harry Potter" films are through, the 22-year-old actor revealed some shocking insight into his performances. He told Heat magazine that he was completely drunk during some of the scenes.

He explained, "I have a very addictive personality. It was a problem. People with problems like that are very adept at hiding it. It was bad. I don't want to go into details, but I drank a lot and it was daily -- I mean nightly ... I can honestly say I never drank at work on 'Harry Potter' [but] I went into work still drunk. I can point to many scenes where I'm just gone. Dead behind the eyes." Unfortunately, he didn't point any out.

Not only that, but he also told The Daily Mirror that he hooked up with "Harry Potter" groupies on occasion. While drunk. He said, "I was always very nervous about the groupie thing. I like to like somebody before I sleep with them ... I have... I mean, that has happened, but generally speaking I've known the person. Apart from a few times when I was drinking." (We'll leave the wand jokes to you.) Do you think these new revelations about Daniel Radcliffe are surprising?

NEITHER! This is idiotic. It is not a scandal, and it is only surprising to someone who's been living in a cave for the last 20 years. How many child stars have been through this? It happens. Stop acting so shocked, get the kid some help, and get over it.

I only voted surprising because I don't think it's scandalous. It really isn't surprising. He spent more than half of his life so far completely under the public eye, more so than any of the other child actors in the films. It would be surprising to me if he came out of it without any problems or ill effects at all. Putting so much pressure on a child for that long is almost always going to give them some kind of problem.

I wouldn't say this is surprising. Keep in mind that Daniel Radcliffe was eleven when he started filming the Harry Potter series. He had to grow up under public scrutiny. It was probably very stressful. Part of growing up is making mistakes and learning from them, even if you're a celebrity. This just shows that Dan is human. A lot of teenagers make the same mistakes. The important thing is that he has obviously moved past this. Admitting to his behavior shows how much he has grown as a person. I expect to see more great things from Daniel Radcliffe in the future.

I thought Harry Potter was a virgin who avoided cigarettes, alcohol and drugs. I thought Daniel Radcliffe lived the role that made him famous. I am shocked!

said. DANIEL RADCLFFE is a very HANDSOME-YOUNG-TALENTED-ACTOR, of course,

young women are attracted to him and they surround HIM HOPING for his ATTENTION. WE

heard many child actors' lives ruined by DRUGS & ALCOHOL. The latest child actor who died

of DOD was ACTOR COREY HAIM (December 23, 1971 – March 10, 2010).

Neither, really. He's a young man, and drinking is an extremely common problem in young people, troubled or not. Also I hear he's given up completely, which is a lot more responsible than what other people his age might do.

neither choice was good.....BUT this blog made me choose.....I would say a better answer would be Hollywood as a verb. If you gotta kill the nerves..and drinking did the trick...well rock on Danny Boy !!! Harry Potter is a phenomenal series and nothing can take that away.....................If you were in the same shoes how would you do with all that pressure to perform ???

The guy spent most of his childhood behind a cameras and on red carpets. If he wants to knock back a few or case of booze, then let him in peace! He well deserves it and he needs to enjoy being young while he still can!!!

(I'm not voting as I do not like the narrow choices.) The only thing he has which is not curable is his addicting personality (as far as I know). Alcoholism is a disease along with drug addiction, codependency, and others. I hope he gets help. He really can't afford not to.

the darkside of mister potter :D well, i'm surprised. but not really. i mean everybody has secrets. also wouldn't be surprised if it was a commercial stunt. scandalous? hell, no. nothing is scandalous anymore. please, get over it. as someone said earlier, good for him for being able to do it while being drunk :D and also, who cares what he did when the end product is freaking awesome? harry potter rules!

Oh boy, Danny. What have you done... XP I can say I may have noticed it in the 6th movie, perhaps he did look like he was drunk in a few scenes. I can't really remember which, but sometimes you can notice very little things that others do not normally. With make-ups and all, you can't always tell. I don't think he drank before the 5th movie though. Though isn't the drinking age different in the UK?
