Jay-Z is famous enough to play eight shows in a row at Brooklyn’s Barclay’s Center, but that doesn't mean he can’t go unrecognized on a subway train. In a documentary on his website, the rap star has a sweet conversation with an elderly woman on a train who doesn't recognize him -- and it’s already gone viral. Check out the video below to watch the conversation between them.
The clip is part of a 24-minute documentary, “Where I’m From” that appeared on Jay-Z’s “Times+Life” website on Tuesday, on his 43rd birthday. The video documents the eight shows at the Barclay’s Center -- a remarkable achievement for any star.
But fans’ hearts have been captured by 67-year-old artist Ellen Grossman, who Jay-Z sits next to on the subway on the way to the last show. When she asks him if he’s famous, he says “Not very famous, you don't know me. But I'll get there someday."
The humble star has a friendly conversation before Grossman asks him his name, and she exclaims "Oh, you're Jay-Z. I know about Jay-Z!" Do you think the encounter was adorable or kind of awkward?
