The troubled life of Mindy McCready has come to an end. The 37-year-old country singer and mother of two young boys was found dead on Sunday of an apparent suicide.
"Ms. McCready was pronounced dead at the scene from what appears to be a single self-inflicted gunshot wound," reads an official statement from the Arkansas Cleburne County Sheriff's office, according to E! News.
Since her single "Guys Do It All the Time" hit No. 1 in 1996, McCready has battled drug and alcohol issues, even doing time for violating probation. But recently things went from bad to worse: she was committed to a treatment facility last month after her fiance David Wilson died in what is being investigated as a suicide or a murder.
The country music world was devastated by the news of McCready's death and quickly took to Twitter to share their grief. "I grew up listening to Mindy McCready...so sad for her family tonight. Many prayers are going out to them..." Carrie Underwood tweeted. LeAnn Rimes wrote: "My heart goes out to Mindy McCready's family. I knew her well." You admire someone, let her/him know while they're alive, once they're gone, it's too late.
