Conan O’Brien to Headline White House Correspondents Dinner: Good Choice or God Awful?

The White House Correspondents have revealed their choice for entertainer at the 2013 dinner for the organization — Conan O’Brien. Each year the President and First Lady attend the event along with other Washington officials and a room full of journalists. In the past other late night hosts have taken the same stage from Jay Leno to Stephen Colbert to Jimmy Kimmel. Now it’s Coco’s turn.

Ed Henry the president of White House Correspondents called Conan, "one of television's most innovative and influential talents." And Conan seems eager to make some digs at the government. Earlier in the week he tweeted, “In honor of President's Day, I won't be getting along with Congress.”

But this isn’t Coco’s first time to the party. He performed at the 1995 White House Correspondents Dinner, long before he took the “Tonight Show” reigns and them had them taken away from him.

Now while Leno, Letterman and Kimmel battle it out in the network ratings, Conan has settled into to his cable channel home on TBS, where he was just renewed until 2014. But despite his success on TBS, some feel that Conan no longer deserves his spot alongside the late night big boys. What do you think: Was Conan a good choice or god awful?

The only person worse than Conan O'Brien is Ben Affleck. One can't act and the other isn't funny. Both are highly overated.

Good enough I suppose. Of course it will be difficult for anyone to match the way Colbert eviscerated GW Bush.

Sorry...but I have never thought the man was funny. It's like he's too full of himself, his jokes are too contrived, and he's his biggest fan.

Being who he is, he will naturally pander to their political ideologies. For them, good choice. For me, he just isn't that funny.

Since I don't like Mr O'Brien, he's a bad choice IMHO; I hope his fans enjoy the event.

I can't stand him. I can't stand any American fake comedy talk show. Letterman, Conan, and the other guy with the big chin. I don't get why they need a side kick to "boom boom" all their REHEARSED jokes.

Empty headed pure celebs messing in news and politics are a significant factor in the devolution of our news and politics to the least common denominator of reality TV.

I know that some comedy chops are primary for the White House Correspondents Dinner headliner, but at least get someone with a side gig as a serious political commentator and / or writer.

Dennis Miller, PJ O'Rourke, Ben Stein, etc.

Only if like Dr.Carson .tells the truth as the MEDIA sure as hell don't >>> Look at Benhgazi and F&F; plus Fort Hood killer still not tried or the how he patted him self on the back after getting Bin Laden and throwing the doctor who help under the bus >> and the MEDIA covers it up
