The White House Correspondents have revealed their choice for entertainer at the 2013 dinner for the organization — Conan O’Brien. Each year the President and First Lady attend the event along with other Washington officials and a room full of journalists. In the past other late night hosts have taken the same stage from Jay Leno to Stephen Colbert to Jimmy Kimmel. Now it’s Coco’s turn.
Ed Henry the president of White House Correspondents called Conan, "one of television's most innovative and influential talents." And Conan seems eager to make some digs at the government. Earlier in the week he tweeted, “In honor of President's Day, I won't be getting along with Congress.”
But this isn’t Coco’s first time to the party. He performed at the 1995 White House Correspondents Dinner, long before he took the “Tonight Show” reigns and them had them taken away from him.
Now while Leno, Letterman and Kimmel battle it out in the network ratings, Conan has settled into to his cable channel home on TBS, where he was just renewed until 2014. But despite his success on TBS, some feel that Conan no longer deserves his spot alongside the late night big boys. What do you think: Was Conan a good choice or god awful?

I know that some comedy chops are primary for the White House Correspondents Dinner headliner, but at least get someone with a side gig as a serious political commentator and / or writer.
Dennis Miller, PJ O'Rourke, Ben Stein, etc.
