Coldplay's latest album, "Mylo Xyloto," included a collaboration with Rihanna. Though they're both technically pop artists, their style couldn't be less similar. When "Princess of China" came out, frontman Chris Martin told press that they had "nothing to lose" and wanted to "break down the perceived boundaries between different types of music." Well, the song didn't get nominated for a Grammy but both artists did, so naturally they're going to perform it.

Rihanna broke the news, tweeting, "My friends @ColdPlay and I will be sharing the stage for a performance at this years Annual Grammy Awards! WE reached 2BILLION views on @youtube !!! THANK U!!! I'm in a great mood, and I got some GREAT NEWS!!! PRINCESS OF CHINA #GRAMMYS2012." The 54th Grammy Awards will be held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on February 12.

I'm very curious and am a big fan of Coldplay, not as much for Rihanna as it's not really a type of music I listen to much but I'm all for trying out whatever they come up with.

I don't think it's to do with that as much as it's perceived as two very different music styles that are not often combined, one of those things that will either be awesome.. or a complete failure.

I like Coldplay's music and I don't like Rihanna's. So odd is just one of a number of words to describe my feelings about the collaboration. Coldplay is a group of talented and creative musicians with some very cool songs. Rihanna is, in my own opinion of course, not particularly talented or original. Combine that with the fact that their musical styles don't seem to mesh, and you get a rather muddy hodge podge of techno-pop sounds that fight with each other. Big thumbs down on this one.
