There are always a lot of choices to be made when it comes time to ring in the New Year. But music fans won’t have to pick between Coldplay and Jay-Z when they’re making their plans for December 31, 2012. That’s because the rapper and Chris Martin’s Brit-pop band are taking to the stage together at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, to headline a gig on the most festive holiday around.

It’s not the first time that the acts have teamed up. The hip hop star and the alt-rocker frequently hang out with their wives, Beyonce and Gwyneth Paltrow, who have become the best of friends. This summer, Jay-Z joined Coldplay for the London 2012 Paralympic Games Closing Ceremony in their native England. And in 2010, they joined together to count down the clock at The Cosmopolitan Hotel and Resort in Las Vegas.
Besides a top-notch concert, fans were treated to a star-studded crowd. The A-listers in attendance included Cameron Diaz and then-boyfriend Alex Rodriguez, Jennifer Lopez and her now ex-husband Mark Anthony and a pre-Kim Kardashian Kanye West, who also performed along with Beyonce and John Mayer. So, the star spottings alone might be worth a ticket to the show, even if either style of music isn’t your thing. What do you think? Are Jay-Z and Coldplay a good double bill to ring in 2013?

Why would Coldplay want to lower itself and jam with this lowlife?
