On Thursday afternoon, Philadelphia radio and television
commentator Howard Eskin tweeted that the Cleveland Browns may be for
sale.

The tweet sent local media into a frenzy of speculation as to the validity of the report.

Are the Browns for sale? According to a spokesman, they are not.

Vice President of Media Relations Neal Gulkis messaged this reporter: “The Cleveland Browns are not for sale.”

Eskin, of Philadelphia, cited a single league source who told him of
the possibility that the Browns could be for sale along with the St.
Louis Rams while he was investigating Eagles Executive President Joe
Banner’s interest in getting a group together to buy the Buffalo Bills.

The late Al Lerner bought the Browns for 530-million in 1998. His
son, Randy, inherited the team when Mr. Lerner passed away in 2002.
