Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green Are Taking a 'Voice' Hiatus: Are Shakira and Usher Good Substitutes?

Fans of "The Voice" had been put on notice months ago. Since the show was going to be running two installments per year, odds were that the very busy coaches wouldn’t always be sitting in the swivel chairs. Now comes word that while Adam Levine and Blake Shelton will be in their regular spots for the spring season, Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green will be off doing other things. So producer Mark Burnett and his team announced that they will bring in Shakira and Usher as substitutes.
Aguilera has a new album coming out and will be touring. While it might seem like Cee Lo’s just tired of being picked last or not at all by hopeful contestants, he’ll actually be working on new music and a scripted comedy for NBC. Usher seems like a decent fit to replace Cee Lo as both are singers and songwriters, but Usher doesn’t quite have the producing chops that gave Cee Lo an edge in that area.

But Shakira has big shoes to fill in the diva department. True, she’s the highest selling Columbian artist of all time and she’s won numerous Grammy, Latin Grammy and Billboard Music Awards, but Aguilera’s the second biggest singles seller in history and one of the most popular artists ever.
Then there’s the matter of personality. Time will tell if Shakira and Usher can blend into that certain chemistry that the quartet of coaches has which has made the show such a hit. What do you think: Are Shakira and Usher good substitutes for Xtina and Cee Lo?

I don't think Usher will be a good replacement for Cee Lo Green.
First off, Cee Lo loves women. I am not just talking about Cee Lo enjoying having sex with women. Cee Lo has a love for the power of women. I am not sure Usher has that.
Secondly, Cee Lo likes original sounds that come from a deep understanding and appreciation of the history of music. Of all the judges, Cee Lo is the one most likely to encourage a performer to reinterpret classic rock & roll and rhythm & blues.
Finally, Cee Lo is an original, creating his own unique genre. In this regard, he is irreplaceable.
