Fans of "The Voice" had been put on notice months ago. Since the show was going to be running two installments per year, odds were that the very busy coaches wouldn’t always be sitting in the swivel chairs. Now comes word that while Adam Levine and Blake Shelton will be in their regular spots for the spring season, Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green will be off doing other things. So producer Mark Burnett and his team announced that they will bring in Shakira and Usher as substitutes.

Aguilera has a new album coming out and will be touring. While it might seem like Cee Lo’s just tired of being picked last or not at all by hopeful contestants, he’ll actually be working on new music and a scripted comedy for NBC. Usher seems like a decent fit to replace Cee Lo as both are singers and songwriters, but Usher doesn’t quite have the producing chops that gave Cee Lo an edge in that area.

But Shakira has big shoes to fill in the diva department. True, she’s the highest selling Columbian artist of all time and she’s won numerous Grammy, Latin Grammy and Billboard Music Awards, but Aguilera’s the second biggest singles seller in history and one of the most popular artists ever.

Then there’s the matter of personality. Time will tell if Shakira and Usher can blend into that certain chemistry that the quartet of coaches has which has made the show such a hit. What do you think: Are Shakira and Usher good substitutes for Xtina and Cee Lo?

They never should have started running two installments a year. That's why shows don't last. Having the show once a year gets fans on edge and excited to see it. Showing it twice a year will cause people to get burned out. That's just stupid to run two shows. It sure doesn't take long for someone to F up something that is good.

Some of these programs are on life support and most any form of CPR (Celebrity Performance Re-generation) Why don't they look for judges who didn't just flash in a pan, grab a market share and mystify the public with more PR than skill? Doesn't anyone know individuals who understand the basics through the complexities of music? Aren't we tried of the flaky judges by now?

I'm not saying that Shakira and Usher are superior or inferior to Christina and Cee-lo, and in no way are they equivalent replacements. But yes, there will certainly be new energy between coaches and between the coached.

I am not a fan of Christina or CeeLo. I don't think neither should have been there from the beginning. I remember when it was a little competition between Christina and Brittney Spears and I thought Brittney was always better than Christina as a performer. But Brittney messed around and dropped out of the REAL WORLD. I don't like Christina's voice or her "now" attitude. She's not impressive to me as a singer/performer. I don't know how they come up with the judges on some of these shows! The only song that I have ever liked by her (Christina) is "What a Girl Wants". (I guess she sung that)? I like Usher but I don't think I would like him out there like that! I use to love "ALL" of Usher's songs but now I'm not to crazy about what he's been doing these last 6 or 7 yrs. Maybe because he's changing with the times and I'm still back there! :-) I don't know much about Shakira other than she is/was a Belly Dancer?

I'm a very big fan of Shakira and I own some of her music where as I don't own any of Christina Aguilara's. I also like Usher. Cee-Lo is so unique so it's also understandable that he & Xtina have performing commitments, but their's is the best show on television right now and they were the perfect choice for judges; I'll miss the group dynamic.

I really hate it when they change the celebrities on talent shows. They've got wannabe demi devato as a judge on American Idol now too. At least on The Voice they aren't using wannabes, but I like the panel they have now.
