How awesome is Christian Bale? "The Dark Knight Rises" star visited the Medical Center of Aurora on Tuesday to meet with seven victims of the horrific mass shooting that occurred during a midnight showing of his hit film, The Denver Post reports.

"The patients were really happy to meet Bale," hospital interim president Bill Voloch told the Post. "They are obviously big fans of his movies. They wanted to see Batman and were really pleased to see Bale."
In their two-and-a-half hour visit, Bale and his wife also met with doctors, police officers and emergency medical technicians who were first responders when James Eagan Holmes allegedly killed 12 people and injured 58 others last Friday.
Clearly, Bale has taken the tragedy to heart -- and as Warner Brothers pointed out, Bale was in Colorado "as himself" -- not representing the movie studio. He even asked that media not be notified, but in the age of Twitter and Facebook, word inevitably leaked out. Seems like a good guy ...

Torchy 2012/07/25 20:18:39Real-life superhero+22He went on his own accord, and I'm guessing his own dime. It's not like Christian has ever struck me as a publicity whore, but I think that doing this on his own terms speaks volumes for his character. Cameras did follow him, but that's expected. It's a right sight better to see this than reports of him needing to go to anger management.

+7No offense but your expectations are absurd. Pay their hospital bills? Medical Insurance, fund raiders and civil action lawsuits will handle the medical bills. If Hollywood wants to make a donation, that would be a beautiful thing, but for anyone to expect them to, it's just unreasonable.reply - The Lib... susan 2012/07/26 01:57:13
LMAO, I don't expect Bale or Hollywood to do anything that isn't self serving, I for one wouldn't care if Hollywood fell off into the pacific ocean. I only say pay their bills because of their assuming self importance, they love going around the world and helping other people or just show off for the camera, well here is their chance to help their fellow Americans, something they rarely do.reply - meshell The Lib... 2012/07/25 22:14:36
how in anyway is he responsible for the shootings. damn fine thing for him to do. why the hell should he pay the bills. pete was killed in an accident on the way home from watching a movie that stared, Tom Cruise. does that make Tom in anyway responsible.. Seriously some of you people need to lighten up. you have some queer ways of thinking.reply - The Lib... meshell 2012/07/26 02:05:59
Nobody said he was responsible, show me where I said he was responsible, if Pete left the theater after watching Tom Crusie and got into an accident, well he wasn't in the theater watching the movie at the time of the accident, this was a horrid way for people to die, the gunman was by some accounts living out the Villains role in Batman as the joker, unlike a lot of you type who follow Hollywood like they are some kind of God or Goddess I don't and that helps shape my opinion, yes I am anti Hollywood, they are self serving, arrogant, full of themselves and get passes on crimes that would send a regular Joe to jail, they are not special, they do not deserved to be put on a pedestal, they are actors and actresses, that's it nothing more.reply - meshell The Lib... 2012/07/26 02:30:28

Also he didn't have to if he didn't want to and it just shows that he has a big heart instead of a big ego, like some celebs.reply

- Maddog 2012/07/25 20:29:07 (edited)Least he could do+8The word "hero" has become one of the most overused words in the English language! If there were any heroes in this tragedy, if was those individuals who used their bodies to shield their friends and loved ones from the rain of bullets unleashed in that theater.reply
- meshell Maddog 2012/07/25 22:32:00
+2you are so right. a little boy rings 911 or 000(us) when mum goes into labour and they are called heroes??? it is redicelous. when someone gives or risks their life for another then if they want called them a hero, then so be it. it was an awesome gesture what he did and should be shown respect for that.reply - Seiryuu Maddog 2012/07/25 23:55:08
Well, that's the age-old definition of "hero." I prefer thinking of a hero as someone that saves someone from something no matter how small. If someone saved someone's life literally they'd be a hero. What about those that offered a helping hand for people who were on the road to self-destruction? Are those not heroes as well? Those that offered genuine hope? Those who comforted those in their darkest hour?reply - Maddog Seiryuu 2012/07/26 01:00:01 (edited)
Offering someone comfort is indeed commendable, but falls short of what I would call "heroic" behavior. I think the most appropriate label for such individuals is "good samaritan"; however, you're free to call them whatever you wish.reply - Michael Maddog 2012/07/26 00:34:09

No. I'm not famous, and I don't care whether or not a "big deal" is made of it. In fact I would rather remain anonymous. If I met him on the street today I sure wouldn't go gaga about him. Stars eat sleep and crap like the rest of us.reply - meshell TasselLady 2012/07/26 21:27:47

+10I hope you're trolling, but just in case you're not -- 1) The studio owns the Batsuit. If he didn't want them to be involved and turning this into a circus, he couldn't go to them for it; and 2) Hypothetically, if I had been shot at a Batman movie by a crazed gunman, the last thing I would want to see is a man in a Batsuit trying to comfort me. Especially if he does that voice.reply - Emily B... Torchy 2012/07/25 20:38:55
+1Haaaa lol, I agree.reply - Michael Torchy 2012/07/26 00:53:52
+3hahahaha TOO TRUE!! Finally someone on here who decided to use a little common sense!! A lot of these people assume that Bale just goes and gets his Batman costume dry-cleaned at the end of shooting everyday, then goes home and tosses it in his closet when filming has finally ended!! hahahaha Also, you made a VERY GOOD point about people probably NOT wanting to see a costume that they now associate with the slaughter of friends and family, that has now be seared into their psyche for the rest of their lives!! hahaha You go girl!! lolreply - shagnazty Sodahea... 2012/07/25 20:46:18

Would've been nice for the little kids though. They'd have been able to see their superhero.reply - meshell ~head~f... 2012/07/25 22:42:02
the little kids are probably freaked out by their superhero now. i cant understand WHY kids were there at that time of night. surely it wasnt that important to see it on the first night.reply - ~head~f... meshell 2012/07/26 18:52:36
To some kids, it was important. And why would their superhero freak them out? It wasn't Batman or Christian Bale that did that to those kids. They deserve to know that there's good people out there and not just the bad.reply - meshell ~head~f... 2012/07/26 21:31:04
do you have kids or understand kids at all. why would it freak them out was your question!! you dont understand kids as well as you think you do.reply - ~head~f... meshell 2012/07/26 22:52:46
No, I don't have kids. I watch my cousin's baby and their five year old every day while he and his wife are at work, so I think I know kids a little better than you'd think. I took the five year old to go see Batman because it's his favorite superhero. Thankfully, those kids have never had to endure a mass shooting at a movie theater and hopefully will never have to. And while we're on the subject, how do you know what those kids are thinking? Were you in a mass shooting in a movie theater when you were little? Only those kids can tell us how they feel and I'm pretty sure their parents aren't letting them talk to the press, so it's a moot point, really.reply - meshell ~head~f... 2012/07/27 02:32:38
anyone esp a child that goes through something like that will be traumatised, weather showing signs or not. i dont think i know what they are thinking, how stupid of you to ask. common sense says. show me a child that hasnt been traumatised after going through something like that, that is even if they are old enough to understand what has happened. and if not why the fark are kiddies up after midnight and at the theatre in the first place. could it not wait until the next day to take the kiddies.reply - ~head~f... meshell 2012/07/27 05:19:31
+1Obviously it couldn't wait, considering they were there.reply - shagnazty Sodahea... 2012/07/25 20:49:06
