Christian Bale Visits Shooting Victims: Real-Life Superhero, or the Least He Could Do?

How awesome is Christian Bale? "The Dark Knight Rises" star visited the Medical Center of Aurora on Tuesday to meet with seven victims of the horrific mass shooting that occurred during a midnight showing of his hit film, The Denver Post reports.

christian bale

"The patients were really happy to meet Bale," hospital interim president Bill Voloch told the Post. "They are obviously big fans of his movies. They wanted to see Batman and were really pleased to see Bale."

In their two-and-a-half hour visit, Bale and his wife also met with doctors, police officers and emergency medical technicians who were first responders when James Eagan Holmes allegedly killed 12 people and injured 58 others last Friday.

Clearly, Bale has taken the tragedy to heart -- and as Warner Brothers pointed out, Bale was in Colorado "as himself" -- not representing the movie studio. He even asked that media not be notified, but in the age of Twitter and Facebook, word inevitably leaked out. Seems like a good guy ...

He went on his own accord, and I'm guessing his own dime. It's not like Christian has ever struck me as a publicity whore, but I think that doing this on his own terms speaks volumes for his character. Cameras did follow him, but that's expected. It's a right sight better to see this than reports of him needing to go to anger management.

I highly doubt that his visit can prevent any more monetary loss to the movie. Think about it: people who aren't going are doing it either because they're scared of a copycat criminal or they are not going as their way of showing respect to the victims. All things considered, his visit would not change either of the two mindsets which are causing the movie to lose some money.

Get a life. Go answer someone elses response. Many people think like I do. I understand you are new. If you wish to continue on the same rant find someone who cares. Scroll down and blow to someone else.

I'm new? Erm... can you define the word "new", because I don't think we agree on the same meaning, here. I've been a member of this site since '09. If you can't handle someone responding to your opinion, don't post it. I made a single response of a paragraph length: that is hardly "continuing on the same rant".

the problem with most people is they listen to much to what others say, they all say he is great, so, well, he must be. (but really he is a prick) they say he is a prick(chances are he is an ok guy) to many too quick to judge even if they have never met this person.

Its the least he could do? He made millions doing this movie, while those in the hospital are going to have to pony up some money for medical bills for getting shot watching a movie, so he isn't a super hero, super hero's right wrongs, lets see the Studio and Bale pay those medical bills, that in my opinion is the least he could do.

Why? It's not his fault in any way that those people got attacked. I'd be definitely impressed if he did choose to pay for their medical bills, but there's not a single cast member of the Dark Knight Rises whose responsible for the massacre.

I didn't say they are responsible but these are just everyday folks, most if not all don't have a lot of money, while the studio and Bale made 100's of millions of dollars, these are the type of people who made them rich and famous, this is something that Hollywood supposedly thrives on helping others, so let them help these people, that is the least they can do.

So the fact that they have more to give and are so rich they are expected to pay? The only one who should pay is the shooter. If I go to my dentist's and get shot up in his waiting room by some lunatic should I expect "the least he can do" is to pay my medical expenses? His patients pays for his success just as fans pay for Christian Bale's.

Doctor's provide a needed service that is called a "need" going to the movies is not a need, my point is, Hollywood can help these people just like they help others in need, I don't expect him to do anything, Hollywood is shallow and full of itself but it would nice if Hollywood would step up to the plate and help these people out, their is nothing wrong with that, please comparing a Doctor to a Hollywood actor is ludicrous, Doctor's provide a Service that is required, going to a Movie like I said is not a requirement nor is it needed.

The fact that going to a movie is more frivolous than going to the doctor is irrelevant to my argument and it's obvious. OK lets say I go into a comic book store which is not a service that is required and some might think is frivolous like going to the movies and get shot. Should the store owner or marvel comics should pay my bills? No one would have that expectation of that store owner to pay anyone's medical bill's. You have a different standard to which you hold Christian Bale expecting him to pay people's medical bill's yet you slander his profession as being a Hollywood type who is shallow and full of it's self.

Like I said I don't expect him to do anything, Hollywood Types are self serving and arrogant, I only say this because Hollywood prides its self importance on helping others, in other countries, here is an opportunity for Hollywood to give back to people in their own Country and help some of these if not all of these victims, instead of the victims going to court and wasting millions of taxpayer money, Hollywood as an extraordinary opportunity here to help but they won't, you are right it wasn't his fault nor was its Hollywood, they will not help, instead they will take the next flight to the Sudan and say to those bloated belly children, HI, I'm George Clooney now that you have seen how great I am, don't you feel better already.

If you don't expect him to do anything then what does "lets see the Studio and Bale pay those medical bills, that in my opinion is the least he could do." mean?

Oh I didn't know we were talking about George Clooney. I didn't know if someone shared the same profession they acquire all the bad attributes of the other.
George Clooney has supported the following charities:

    21st Century Leaders
    American Foundation for AIDS Research
    Ante Up For Africa
Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes
    CARE
    Casey Lee Ball Foundation
    Cinema For Peace
    Clothes Off Our Back
    ENOUGH Project
    Feeding America
    International Rescue Committee
    Make Poverty History
    Not On Our Watch

    ONE Campaign
    Oxfam
    Partners in Health
    Realizing the Dream
    Red Cross
    Rock For Darfur
    Satellite Sentinel Project
    Save the Children
    UNICEF
    United Way
    Whatever It Takes
    World Food Program

Didn't know he did any of this. Yeah he sounds like a total douche how dare he try to help people in Sudan. Your essentially blaming him for his celebrity. If a celebrity wants to donate to a cause the media is going to be all over it. Blame the media and the people who consume it and sensationalize it if you don't like it don't blame him for doing a good deed.

He can do what ever the hell he want's with his money and time. Self serving or not I really don't care as long as it doesn't cause problems for other people. You seem to care more about him and what he does with his money than me. And how does this relate to christian Bale visiting people in a hospital? Is he also a self serving ass for doing that? Please enlightenment me on how bad these people are and the suffering and pain they cause others.
