Christian Bale Visits Shooting Victims: Real-Life Superhero, or the Least He Could Do?

How awesome is Christian Bale? "The Dark Knight Rises" star visited the Medical Center of Aurora on Tuesday to meet with seven victims of the horrific mass shooting that occurred during a midnight showing of his hit film, The Denver Post reports.

christian bale

"The patients were really happy to meet Bale," hospital interim president Bill Voloch told the Post. "They are obviously big fans of his movies. They wanted to see Batman and were really pleased to see Bale."

In their two-and-a-half hour visit, Bale and his wife also met with doctors, police officers and emergency medical technicians who were first responders when James Eagan Holmes allegedly killed 12 people and injured 58 others last Friday.

Clearly, Bale has taken the tragedy to heart -- and as Warner Brothers pointed out, Bale was in Colorado "as himself" -- not representing the movie studio. He even asked that media not be notified, but in the age of Twitter and Facebook, word inevitably leaked out. Seems like a good guy ...

He went on his own accord, and I'm guessing his own dime. It's not like Christian has ever struck me as a publicity whore, but I think that doing this on his own terms speaks volumes for his character. Cameras did follow him, but that's expected. It's a right sight better to see this than reports of him needing to go to anger management.

He had nothing to do with the attack except appearing in the movie that was playing.

He has no legal or moral responsibility to the victims.

That he went anyway makes him a decent person in my opinion.

How should it be "the least he could do" when it's not his fault?

Visiting shooting victims is not something the Goddamn Batman would do, he would rough up the shooter and then watch over the victims from a nearby tree or something. Using bat-binoculars. And then maybe have Bruce Wayne pay for their medical bills and send them something nice.

anybody who votes for "Least He Could Do" is just plain cynical, plain and simple.

He did it because he could. The much despised Justin Beiber goes out of his way to meet children from the Make a Wish foundation's hospitals, over fifty times a year. His only condition? - no pictures allowed. It was kind and probably convenient to do as he did. But a superhero... that's a stretch.

Classy act of humaniity is how I view this.Bale went on his own,and paid for his travel expenses on his own. That's just being a compassionate human being. And I applaud him for doing so!

Actually it is neither, I suspect Bales would acknowledge it is just the human thing to do. Soda-heads either or statements often are not enough. Real life response yes, hero no.

Don't know about "superhero", but damn cool non-the-less. The pictures I've seemed he looked pretty genuine as far as wanting to be there and caring. Good for him. Glad he could bring a smile to some people he didn't have to.

That's really good of him to do and probably would have cleared a little bit of the stuff people have read about him in the past regarding his temper and disregard for fans. This makes me think more of him... not that I didn't like him before but it's nice to see.

Do you guys remember that recording of Bale going off on some poor sound guy or assistant when he
accidentally walked into the background during the shooting of a scene? It wasn't just him yelling a little, he raged, ranted & humiliated the guy. Yes, this is nhttp://www.youtube.com/watch... but he is no "superhero." Just sayin..
  • xcheshi... Sissum7... 2012/07/27 00:39:56

yeah, he said later that the scene was physically hard, and the guy made the same mistake a few times

i would like to see you in a painful situation and doing it all over again

    Going over the top much?

Defending a person isn't worshipping him

You might want to check yourself of you're judging a person on 1 act though
