It's not funny because black people are free today and should not let the past stand in the way of their future, plus the fact that whites are now oppressed in some parts of the nation due to racism (mainly by Hispanic seperatists), and whites are the only ones who aren't being protected from it in most cases since it's "PC" to oppress them. All forms of racism are wrong.

I think that it was funny as heck. Because it is true. Get over it. Why does everything has to become a issue about race, it was a joke people. If we as a black are not offended why should anyone else be.

I know he's a comedian, but as an African-American, I had relatives that fought in almost every war in this country. I'm also a war veteran. Now if it was a joke, then I'll accept that. But the only color in America is RED, WHITE, and BLUE!!!!

Here's a message for Chris Rock and all the other liberal hypocrites that spend their days bashing our great country while raking in the dough because of their freedom to do so, DON'T LET THE DOOR HIT YOU IN THE ASS ON YOUR WAY OUT ! We don't need or want you around here ANYMORE !! Take Bill Maher and Michael Moore with you please !!!

if he doesn't have pride in this country, he can move out of it.

It not about pride in his country. It was a true statement about slavery, in which we as black were in, during this time in era. How in the heck are you going to say that he can move out of it. It is not that serious. OH, but I forgot he called it White People Day, so that makes it not funny.

yes he did. I'm not condoning what happened nor does anyone i know. nobody was innocent, here or in africa. you can't sell people. the africans sold their own people to americans (which is pretty messed up on their half as well). people should have never been bartered but were all living in this country now. all the guilty parties are dead and gone and were all soaking up the freedom and independence of this country and if he doesn't respect it he can leave.

Chris Rock is always pretty funny. I think the statement was funny. He said it in the past tense, so yeah, it was funny.

Not funny, not bad either. I think it is time we get past the slave history and move onto ending bigotry and racism.

I am all for ending racism and bigotry, and wish that it could happen one day, for my children and theirs as they become adults. But you have to understand it is hard to get pass slavery when our grandparents and great great grandparents teach us and show us how they used our people to do things that they did not want to do. I mean really how hard is for you to get up off your ass and clean your own house or pick your own cotton. Its terrible, but it did happen and you will never get over something like that. Being whipped like a pig or dog, just because you chose not to bow down to another person just because they were white and being sold as property because they did not feel like you had any rights. So now you tell me, Would you be able to move on from that? Especially, when you have so many people in this world still today, that think that it was alright then and that it is okay now. Just read some of the comments on this page along, it tells you what kind of people that we still have acting this same way. But I still say that it was a joke, maybe not to many, but as long as he is not using the n----- word as so many still do along with African Americans I do not see the harm.
  • Ira Sarina 2012/07/06 21:34:47
    Ira
No, no harm. Just not that funny from my perspective. But the getting past old history still seems valid despite the comments from others. Thats what getting past means. Each and every day we practice what we preach and hope to influence one or more individuals and cease with the jokes. Jokes are a form of bigotry and coming from CR seem on the surface to be innocuous. I believe they feed the bigotry.

White jokes were funny in the 90s. However, they are boring, generic, and to be expected from African-American comedians these days. Perhaps a little innovation is in order?

    A) He is black, so he can get away with jokes of a racial nature.
    B) People need to lighten up if they really find that offensive.
