Chris Hemsworth Names Baby Girl India Rose: Super Cute or Annoyingly Hollywood?

This is turning out to be quite the year for 28-year-old Chris Hemsworth! "The Avengers" smashed box office records and "Snow White and the Huntsman" is on track to open well in June, but most importantly the Aussie actor got to witness the birth of his firstborn child.

Hemsworth and his 35-year-old wife Elsa Pataky, a Spanish actress, confirmed to USA Today that their daughter was born on Friday in London. The couple, who married in December 2010, decided to name their baby girl India Rose Hemsworth.

"We love the country and love the name," Hemsworth told USA Today.

India may not be named after her mother’s homeland (Spain), but Pataky is determined that her daughter will learn to speak her native tongue. When the couple announced their pregnancy in January, Pataky told Hola! magazine, “I’m only going to speak to the baby in Spanish. I already told my husband, ‘Get ready fast with Spanish because, if not, you’re not going to be able to understand what we say.’”

So, what do you think SodaHeads? Is India Rose Hemsworth a super cute name? Or is it annoyingly Hollywood?

"Annoyingly Hollywood" would be a name like Pilot Inspektor. India Rose is actually an adorable name for a girl. Congratulations to them.

Cute, not as bad as some but just because "you love the country and love the name" is not really a valid excuse to name your kid that.If we're going by that then I should name my kid Japan Lydia

Beats the plethora of "Anna Grace", "Anna Caroline" , "Harper ELizabeth" and other double cutsey names. And I hope others become more original.

Kind of cute, names of Countries for kids names isn`t as annoying to me as parents who give their kids last names as first names, like : Mackenzie, Kennedy, Maddison, Frasier, Anderson,....just to name a few lol, sorry folks that`s just my opinion, I`m just a little old fashioned.
No worse than the names Frank Zappa named his kids. Moon, Unit, Dweezil, ...
I noticed a new name fad lately where people are starting to name their kids strange ancient Bible names like Ezekial. noticed fad people starting kids strange ancient bible names ezekial

I like the name, but it is "Hollywood odd",,,but shame on her for declaring that her
daughter will (it appears from this statement) only be speaking Spanish. She is in this
country now, and the baby should be bi-lingual at the very least...and shame on him if he supports that thinking.

Doubtful, usually the birthing unit has all the control early on and FEAR keeps the men quiet, especially when that birthing unit probably knows where all of your skeletons are buried.

Wel, a LOT of the hollyweird/sports/music hangers on-get a baby with a rich/powerful man to get a paycheck or try to force a relationship, so, since the baby is more of an anchor or income stream, birthing unit seems to fit. Let's face it, most of the hollywierd births are not out of sheer love.

It is cute . . . for a *baby* girl. My question is how she'll like the name or how others will take it when she's grown. It reminds me of Indiana Jones, but it's cute nonetheless. I just hope she doesn't grow up hating her name because her parents decided to give her a wild and cutsy(?) name. Besides, it's far better than naming her Maxwell.....

I can't remember whether "celebrities" used to cash in on such things as I was growing up. I suspect, if they did, it was only the really famous ones we'd hear about.

Okay, hold up. Elsa Pataky is so pretty and Chris Hemsworth is insanely sexy. If they have a baby, will it just be like, so good-looking it's ugly? Or will it be so good-looking that our eyes won't be able to behold it?
