The book "I Am Legend" has actually been adapted three times -- but Will Smith's version is our favorite.

The remake of horror classic "Carrie," which will star Chloe Grace Moretz and Julianne Moore, finally has a teaser trailer. The unsettling clip has already got us excited about Spring 2013; flip through our gallery and see how it stands up to some other great horror remakes.
The 1976 original, directed by Brian De Palma ("Scarface") and starring Sissy Spacek ("Badlands") as the titular bullied girl with telekinetic powers, was an adaptation of Stephen King's first novel and is generally considered to be one of the scariest films ever made. It's already been remade once as a TV movie in 2002, and it was even given a sequel in 1999 ("The Rage: Carrie 2").
Speaking to Coming Soon about "Carrie," which will be directed by Kimberly Peirce ("Boys Don't Cry"), Moretz revealed that the film will be "darker and much more psychological" and will be more of an adaptation of the book than a remake. Adding that she's "actually not looking at the original," she said that the role will be a big change for her: "I'm becoming a totally different person for it. I'm letting go of all of my self-esteem issues and just kind of going into it."

Other great remakes are The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, House of 1000 Corpses, Friday the 13th, Halloween, and A Nightmare on Elm St...Just me. But I actually loved the modern feel. Since A Nightmare on Elm St. got deeper into the origins of Freddy, it should've been immediately followed by an up-to-date sequel.

Carrie, of course, had to be remade. The negative depiction of her crazy Christian mother is too tame for modern audiences, so they need to ramp that up to the expectation levels of modern haters.
Stephen King, the self-proclaimed Methodist, seems to have 'sold his soul' there. And it worked! Just saying.
I should point out that "Let Me In" isn't technically a remake. It was based on the same novel (from what I've heard) as "Let the Right One In." It's more or less a reboot or a second adaption. It's like how you wouldn't say Batman Begins is a remake of Batman '89 or the West movie. (Sorry...I get kind of picky about that sort of thing. I believe remake is specifically a movie based on another movie.)
Edit: Also, I am Legend and Carrie wouldn't be remakes, either.

It's probably best if we all just forget it ever happened. lol
