Child safety advocates (so they call themselves) protested the opening of Adam Sandler's "That's My Boy" movie about a dad and his son... sounds harmless at first, but the details of the plot may catch you off guard.
The movie released for Father's Day coincided with the trial of Jerry Sandusky, who allegedly sexually assaulted young boys. Sandusky's trial has exposed graphic details about the victimization of young students who trusted their teacher/coach.
I haven't seen Adam Sandler's film. Perhaps "That's My Boy" has a serious message mixed into the offensive humor. Humor can teach stubborn people important lessons.

The objections center on the premise of “That’s My Boy”: The story line follows the relationship between the main character (played by Sandler) and a son that he had with his teacher when he was 13 years old.

Adam Sandler’s new movie opened this weekend to terrible reviews and the worst came not from critics, but from a group of child advocates.

There are many more examples that can be used.
Then again, it could be treated like rape jokes. Someone who already committed statutory rape could see someone (like this movie) glamorising it and feel like that because of the way it's being portrayed it's not a bad thing. Like the movie is normalising it and in a rapist's head it's telling them it's okay, that because it's shown in this big movie in a lighthearted way, that it's not such a bad thing to do in real life.
