Actually, chick flicks are less of a disappointment than all the "guy films" that get my attention. I'd rather see some decent writing and acting than the same old pyrotechnics, used in every "action film."
Me and chick flicks don't get along very well, I tend to think that they're sappy and boring. Give me something like Harry Potter, The Dark Knight, Pirates of the Carribean, and Inception any day.
There are some good movies out there that are targeted towards women. However, chick flicks are pure trash that follow a flexible routine when writing a plot: There must be at least one gay man, a horse, someone dying of cancer or some other unkown disease, female impowerment when it is completely unecessary, and a masculine man who is comfortable with who he is at the beginning who becomes demasculinized by the lead female role in the end, and shopping.
Still good though :)
Now when I think chick flicks I think of the romantic comedies and stuff...not the boring ones that are just mushy with nothing to laugh at aka nothing enjoyable.
Rarely find any of the guys in those movies to be hot though...
