  3. Kenny Chesney

The country crooner's home was halfway submerged during the catastrophic Nashville floods a year ago. He lost his gym and his collection of sports memorabilia.

  4. Barry Gibb

    Barry Gibb

The Bee Gee bought the late Johnny Cash's Tennessee, home - only to see it burn to the ground in 2007. Gibb had planned to restore the lakefront property and move in, but it caught fire during construction.

  5. Evangeline Lilly

  8. Suzanne Somers

    Suzanne Somers

The actress was philosophical after her Malibu home was destroyed by fire in 2007: "My nature is to look at the glass half-full. I don't have a son or daughter in Iraq. I haven't lost a loved one. We will rebuild."

Celebrities Who Lost Homes to Nature: Who Lost Most?

Mother Nature is the great equalizer: she doesn't care who you are or how much money you have. If you're in her path, watch out!

Just ask Skid Row front man Sebastian Bach, whose New Jersey home was recently destroyed by Hurricane Irene. He told his Facebook fans:

"I am numb, in shock, & devastated to report that my home of 21 years, my house featured on MTV Cribs, has been destroyed, condemned, & deemed uninhabitable due to the extreme flooding courtesy of Hurricane Irene."

But he's not the only star who's faced the wrath of Mother Nature. From Richard Branson to Suzanne Somers, celebrities have learned that money and fame can't protect you from natural disaster.

Take a look at our slideshow and tell us: who do you think lost the most?

i read about this fire......but in all honesty, none of them lost much, they have money, they can rebuild their homes, no lives were lost...people living in slums and poverty have nearly no hope if they get struck by natural disasters..these are the people that loose the most...

This is what insurance is for.

These are nothing compared to those who can't afford it.

Wish there was a "none of the above" option. These people lost only material posessions. No one was killed and i'm sure that they're all insured to the hilt to cover their lost posessions.

I actually dont know any of them....
but I know someone important to me who lost his house on a wildfire while he's on a trip with his brother... he lost everything... even he's precious dog that grew up with him since he was little...

A flood is okay but a fire is really a scary thing...

I marked one but, really i didn't want to mark any of them. Yes they have lost their homes and items in their homes, but some people have lost far more. Family and Friends.

And not being heartless, they can afford to replace and renew, unlike many who can't. Yes it's heartbreaking to lose your home and memories to this but they still have somewhere they can go... somehow i doubt they will be in a homeless shelter...let alone laying on a family members/friend's sofa for a few nights.

Of course it's bad when a house is destroyed. But there's good news: They have financial power to rebuilt them. They have the power most ofus don't have. Use it.

Losing a home really hurts, but none of them really "lost it all." They all lost a fraction of it.

They've all lost bigtime. I've had a home burn, I know how it feels. My heart goes out to Richard Branson, if it hadn't been for a quick thinking Kate Winslet, his 90 year old mother would have been lost in that fire.

I chose Sebastian Bach, only because I like Skid Row. However, are his fans supposed to shed tears that he lost his luxurious home, the one featured on MTV's "Cribs?" I'm sure the dude has plenty of money from Skid Row's royalties, enough to buy himself another crib, perhaps bigger and better than the one destroyed by Hurricane Irene. The poor folks in New Orleans' Ninth Ward are still trying to recover from the ravages of Hurricane Katrina, so it's hard to feel sorry for a rich celebrity who loses his mansion.

Why wasn't former NFL star Andre Rison included on this list of famous people who lost their homes to disaster? Of course, Rison's "disaster" came via his girlfriend, TLC's Lisa "Left-Eye" Lopes, who burned his $2 million estate to the ground after he didn't come home until 6:30 AM after a night out with "the boys." She also destroyed three of his luxury automobiles by taking a few swings at them with a Louisville Slugger. Yowzer. A woman scorned...

That was a good one! Still, no matter how wealthy a celebrity is, I wouldn't want to see them lose precious memories, such as photos and personal mementos, to a natural disaster, even if it IS due to karma. [When I saw that picture of Sebastian Bach, at first I thought it was Melissa Etheridge! Well, except for the fact that Sebastian is better-looking!] Thanks for your comments, and have a great day!

All of the ones whose homes were destroyed by fire are equally bad. Fire wipes out /everything/. The others are bad too, except the one where the "losses" were a gym and some "sports memorabilia".

Also, the one fire which was a product of arson doesn't belong in the list >.> Sure, that sucks, but it's about natural disasters.

Keep expensive items in a safety box or a fire proof safe. Everything that is valuable goes somewhere else keep copies of your expensive paintings. Keep Originals out of your house. Someone can also steal your items.

Branson - owns all the Virgin companies. Virgin airlines, Virgin music, etc.
    Chesney - country singer
Gibb - singer for the Bee Gees (they were big in the '80s)
Petty - singer/songwriter. I've never heard of him either but apparently he's sold 60 million albums
Lilly - she was on 'Lost'
