Celebrities Split Over Tracy Morgan's Homophobic Rant: Whose Side Are You On?

As Tracy Morgan tries to recover from his recent homophobic rant, his celeb pals have stepped up to either defend or denounce what he said.

During a comedy show on Friday, Morgan basically said he would stab his son to death if he found out he was gay.

Though Morgan apologized for his "choice of words," fellow "30 Rock" stars Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin are unwilling to let it go.

Fey told Deadline, "I'm glad to hear that Tracy apologized for his comments ... but the violent imagery of Tracy's rant was disturbing to me at a time when homophobic hate crimes continue to be a life-threatening issue for the GLBT Community."

She added, "It also doesn't line up with the Tracy Morgan I know, who is not a hateful man and is generally much too sleepy and self-centered to ever hurt another person."

Chris Rock, on the other hand, had Morgan's back.

Well, sort of.

"Tracy morgan is a tad off we all know that," Rock wrote on his website. "So when tracy says something i usually don't take it anymore serious than i would a statement from gary busey or flavor flav ... [but] i get it that s--- wasn't called for and i don't support it at all. now can i please go to the tony awards without getting my ass kicked?"

Comedians are people who think that they're funny but in reality they're not. He thought he was telling a funny joke but I think that everyone else took it as an offense to the gays because they keep trying to find a way to get into the media so then they will be heard.

You go to these clubs expecting a shock and awe type show and get it was someone actually expecting the old Ed Sullivan then got shocked by the content? Some of these times people are going to wise up to the fact just because they have a mic and your paying to see them doesn't make them brain surgeons or even in some case moderately funny. I'm kind of wondering how big the spear would have been that Fey jammed into this guy had he not been a former SNL cast member and on 30 Rock with her, quite the huge doubled standard from her.

It was hands-down unacceptable, what he said. But he apologised ad I can't think of anything else he can do to redeem himself that wouldn't look insincere. I'll still watch him if he comes back on SNL.

Can we just get rid of PC and let people voice their opinions and get on with life? Personally, I thought Tracy Morgan is gay anyway. Probably just stereotyping on my part, but come on, who else hasn't wondered in the past? Too bad the homosexual community doesn't like labels. That's life, so deal with it. This PC BS is just causing problems with all walks of life and lifestyles. You want to be gay, lesbian, bi or are a transgender? Fine, but let's not make a big deal of it because PC has got your back. You want to "let it out" then you have to deal with the consequences. Don't like the lingo that goes with it? Then just keep it to yourself as to what you do behind closed doors. IF I was a cross dresser, and I am not saying that there is anything wrong with that if that's your deal, I won't be going out to spread the word to the world. Bottom line, you will not change everyone's minds about how they feel on this issue. Been there since the dawn of time and again, that's life. Deal with it! If you can concieve in a normal biological manner with two men or two momen and no artificial insemination, then have at it. but the procreation issue is really the big one. Sure we have the technology to do test tube babies, but then why? Remember there is a Green Push going on so use normal conventional methods and have fun folks!

Comedians are too busy trying to be outrageous to be funny anymore. Since when is it funny saying that you'd stab your gay son? I never really found Morgan funny, now there's even more proof.

Anybody remember Richard Pryor, Redd Foxx and Robin Williams. Tracy Morgan is tame compared to them. He is a comedian with, at times, a sick sense of humor. If you don't like it, don't buy his tickets or go see his movies.

That wasn't funny. You love your children and certainly wouldn't do anything to hurt them no matter what. For him to jest about that was rude, insensitive and more importantly, NOT funny. He is advocating killing someone if they differ from him. How would he like it if another comedian thought it was funny to say he'd stab his daughter if she dated a black man.....those kinds of hateful and prejudice remarks are just uncalled for. Even if his act was trying to be silly, he could have said something like.I sent him to his room, took away his TV.....whatever ......but to kill him? I have never really thought he was particularly funny anyway. This was in really Bad taste....

Totally! I mean, if he said he'd stab a heterosexual that would've been so much more funnier. I mean... humor... yeah... doesn't require stereotypes or a short attention span (with typical comedians) or anything.

And that just proves how biased things are with the media. Just disgusting...and what is worse is the media's treatment to her family and allowing an old hag 50 year bitch proudly announcing that she was planning on attacking Palin's 16 year old daughter... but their is no moral conscience with people now.

I have completed 5th grade, 21 years ago to be exact and she doesn't embarrass me or many others, so you can speak for youself. And this is about Tracy Morgan... I just said if Sarah Palin said that, there would be different reactions because it seems that people are biased.

you weren't embarrassed by her retelling of the story of the ride of paul revere?

The only reason I brought up Mrs. Palin is because the media chastizes her.... maybe it was Tina Fey giving that story about Paul Revere.... you know how people get mixed up between Sarah Palin and Tina "I can see Russia from my house" Fey.

He's a comedian...do you really think he'd kill his own son? Oh People! Please get over it....there are a lot more important issues facing this nation, then what some comedian said on a comedy show. I am sure that people say a hell of a lot more than that against gay people everyday and it doesn't get exploited all over the media.
