This was -- in my opinion -- a sleeper. Case 39 was a thriller starring Renee Zellweger, as a caring but tough social worker, who fights to save a bright, ten year old (played by Jodell Ferland) from her abusive and perhaps murdious parents. As we know Renee doesn't typically do horror films, but she did the damn thing in this movie, and her co-star, young Jodell Ferland did a fantastic job as well playing the mysterious orphaned girl.

SPOILER ALERT: If you have seen any of the Omen Movies, The Ring or Orphan it isn't hard to imagine what may come next. Predictibility aside the story was paced in such a way that made it interesting to watch. There were well timed moments of anticipation, lots of action and tons of suspense.

I don't recall it being in the movies at all. I rented it at RedBox tonight, and really liked it. I wanted to know if any of you had see it, and what were your thoughts about it?

I loved it, and I've seen it a few times! It's not actually 'scary' but it's interesting and I think well acted. Plus Bradley Cooper is always nice to look at. ;)

Bradley Cooper was a cutie sense his days in Alias. So I agree with you there!

I thought it had a really good story line to it. But it upset me because it wasnt that scary.

You're right, it really wasn't that scary, but when you see the word "thriller," it usually means that it will be more of a subtle genre of horror.

    HiYa
Thanks for commenting Audley. I feel you on that.
I hate when I feel that way about a film. You're just sitting there waiting for payoff for the time you invested in the darn thing. Did you see it in the movies or home? I think when you watch stuff at home you have less patience for it.

I liked it because it told a complete story. It was even scary without relying on gorific scenes etc.,

That is the best kind of scary! :)
