I don't care if she can. They should not be remaking it and I won't watch it.

Really? How can you get a person to come off believably as an Austrian nun who has a Southern accent.

I think she can act. But, are they remaking a classic! If they are, this is horrible. Leave them alone. That is what makes a movie a CLASSIC............

She has charm and she was more decent on How I met your mother

For the role of Maria, the right voice belongs to Julie Andrews -- although Marie Osmond could (and did) pull it off on stage.

She warn't very good in Soul Surfer.

I'm willing to give her a chance, though it is an odd choice given her voice.

I don't really know if she can act, but I had only heard her on the radio and liked her a lot till the CMAs, (think that is where I saw her) and frankly, I was shocked that she was out of tune a lot! Whereas Kelly Clarkson had perfect pitch, and a perfect voice when she sang with Vince Gill! Technology is amazing, so I guess they will clean up all that power, and give her better pitch in the edit. Would never want to hear that live though.

I don't know if she can, but sure.. why not be positive about it and see? Performing as a singer is largely about being a good actor/actress.

Oh, trust me people! I am probably her biggest fan, and I can admit that she probably won't match up to the original! However, that's not what NBC is trying to do, they are just bringing the broadway show into new light while still honoring the original movie. As for casting Carrie as the lead, well that's just smart! I've heard her sing many a genre and I've yet to find something she cannot sing well. She sings with Aerosmith like she's been doing it for years, and with crooner Tony Bennett like it's what she was born to do!

Will you just do me one favor? Give it a chance before you decide you hate it? You never know about these things...

As far as I know, she can only sing country music. I like her voice, but I doubt she can do this any sort of justice.

Instead of ruining it, just play the original.

This is why pop sucks. It takes more than just having a good voice to make a good musician! She sings mindless shallow poppy garbage that gets overproduced and over-publicized. She doesn't even write hardly any of her own stuff.

please, I beg you! Do your homework before commenting. She cowrote over half of her last two albums. Besides, it's not always a good thing to write your own stuff, just look at Taylor Swift, all of her crap sounds the same. And less than half of Carrie's music is pop! What she happens to put out on the radio is usually her poppier music, but you can't generalize what you hear. Temporary Home, All American Girl, Jesus Take The Wheel, just to name a few, these are not pop songs
