Canon Cameras?

I'm a Graphic Design major that has to take a intro to photography course, and I need a good camera for the job. I'm not looking for something too expensive, but will last me a long time. I'm going to go back for a photography major though. I want a canon for sure, but I need an expert or students advice. High quality, and digital (some people keep suggesting non-digital), that I can't edit. Oh and another point, since I'm a GD major and we use a bunch of stock; I'd much rather have a amazing camera to take my own pictures rather than buying some.

Question: What cameras would do the job and more?

make suggestions, debate with others who comment, research, YouTube videos, and etc. are very welcomed on this, have fun.
