Can You Forgive Chris Brown?

These last two years have been an uphill battle for 21-year-old pop singer Chris Brown, following his infamous episode of domestic violence involving ex-girlfriend Rihanna.

A judge told Brown on Thursday, "You're doing very well on probation. You're doing a great job." The Associated Press also reports that Brown has completed 300 hours of community service and received positive reviews from his domestic violence counseling program.

Since being found guilty of abusing Rihanna in 2009, Brown has struggled to keep his head above the negative press, occasionally even losing his cool in public.

For the time being, though, he seems to be doing well. He has reportedly re-established contact with Rihanna, if only through text, and his televised breakdown didn't hurt. This new probation update should only serve to further distance him from his past mistakes.

Still, his original sentence was for five years of probation, and domestic violence is not something people just forget about. He's not out of the woods yet.

Please! The only person who should forgive him is Rihanna, and why should she. I personally have nothing to forgive him for. When Rihanna comes out and truly forgives him (and hopefully she didn't or won't) then this is worth discussion.

I don’t forgive a punk who hit’s his woman I will never spend a dime to support him. As far as second chances go he has got his he is on probation not in jail that’s all he gets in my book.

I think that we have to define what we mean by second chance, for instance: I, as an average run of the mill American, if convicted of a felony would have an extremely hard time finding decent paying work for quite some time if ever again. I also as an average American would probably serve a good deal of my prison sentence and my sentence would undoubtedly had been much longer . How much time did Chris Brown serve and what was his actual sentence.

Should he be able to go right back to his same job making millions? I'm not so sure that that deters the next jack off from beating the living crap out of his gf or wife because they know they will never go without as long as they APOLOGIZE. BUT, is it right to permanently punish someone after they have "served their time." After all, isn't that what the prison system is for?

This is not a yes or no question...

There should have been another option for "I am not the one who needs to forgive"! He didn't do anything to me or anyone I care about so its not up to me. It seems as if they have both moved on, that Rhianna has capitalized on the situation.. so let the two of them and their families decide when and if to hand out forgiveness!!

Domestic abuse usually isn't a one way street. The world isn't that black and white. He was wrong to attack her or act on the compulsions she most likely caused but she most likely did something to warrant the abuse.

Sorry, but you have this wrong. It is never OK to hit a woman. Real men walk away from the argument.

It has nothing to do with being a "real man" it has to do with being a human being with violent inclinations that you either choose to repress, choose to act upon, or unable to control.

I speak from experience Lolita. Only a coward hits a woman. Believe me or don't, but I'm just hoping you don't ever choose to accept the situation for yourself.
