I don't know, I was making tea on the kettle and when I was taking it off of the stove it smelled, I dont know, burnt, I guess. So I wondered, "Can you BURN water???" And I dont mean setting it on fire or anything. I mean can you make it a color like, burnt color just be heating it up really hot?

Pure water cannot be burnt, but the container it's in may burn if heated too high. This will cause chemicals/minerals to leech into the water, possibly changing the smell and colour. Also, as most tap water is not pure it may contain particles that can burn.

You cannot burn water... Once it reaches boiling point it starts turning into steam.

You can burn the thing the water is in, if the water all evaporates.. but its likely that the burning smell came from the burner or the kettle.

Smart girl - It was from all the steel mills and oil refineries that dumped waste in the river! They don’t have to worry about that any more they all closed up and made Cleveland a ghost town.

I think it was the same year that the mayor of Cleveland, Mr. Perk, caught his hair on fire blowing out his birthday candles. Cleveland is a tough town to live in.
