Can you believe what DC comics is doing to The Green Lantern? DC Comics' Green Lantern is now gay

One of DC Comics oldest heroes is super-coming out.
The original Green Lantern - a DC Comics mainstay for the past 70 years - will be revealed to be a gay man in next week's issue of "Earth 2."
Alan Scott - formerly a married father of two who first appeared in 1940 - tips readers off to his sexuality early on in the comic when he gives his boyfriend a welcome home kiss.
"He's very much the character he was. He's still the pinnacle of bravery and idealism. He's also gay," "Earth 2" writer James Robinson told The Post.
The Emerald Guardian's sexuality was rebooted along with the rest of his fictional universe as part of DC's "New 52" initiative aimed at rejuvenating their characters.
Robinson said he decided to make the change because making the character young again meant erasing Scott's gay superhero son out of existence.
"The only downside of his being young was we lose his son, Obsidian, who's gay. So I thought, 'Why not make Alan Scott gay?'" Robinson recalled. "That was the seed that started it."
He ran his idea by the bosses at DC, "who signed off on it without hesitation."

☆SPIDERPIECES☆ 2012/06/01 18:22:16Undecided+13Only people who know nothing about comic books are outraged at this. Same thing happened with the death of Peter Parker and the rise of Miles Morales.
Both Marvel / DC Universes are part of a much larger multiverse (collection of alternate universes). In this alternate universe, this Alan Scott happens to be gay. The original Alan Scott isn't gay and Peter Parker is not dead.

Who is not the Lantern you're thinking of...this one:
the rebooted version of fury was actually meant to be based off of samuel l. jackson, and marvel did so with the actor's permission
Alan Scott isn't even the "best known" Green Lantern. That wold be Hal Jordan. I think they are actually banking on people confusing the two as part of the gimmick.
I'm more upset that on Earth 2 they killed of Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman in the FIRST FREAKING ISSUE! And also that on the rebooted PRIMARY Earth of the DCU (because they aren't calling it Earth One any more, that's actually just yet another Earth) they killed off Ma and Pa Kent when Clark was a young adult at "leaving home" age again (18-ish they haven't said exactly when). I liked it when the retconned that in the 80's and Ma and Pa Kent lived long enough to see Clark end up as Superman.
Nuff said.
people need to stop flipping out
sure it's alan west, but it's an alternate version of alan west; it's not THE SAME alan west from 70 years ago; that character is still the same
I about died laughing at this statement!
