Last year, a study found that Facebook has becoming a "primary cause" of divorce -- or, more precisely, it has played an increasingly major part in relationship problems that lead to divorce. Now a Brigham Young University study is claiming the same thing about video games, claiming the hobby can lead to fighting, neglect, and ultimately, divorce.

According to U.S. News, the study found that 65 percent of spouses who do not share their partner's gaming interest fight about video games, and 75 percent claim the habit has negatively affected their marriage. However, games seem to have the opposite effect when both partners share the hobby: 74 percent of couples who play multiplayer online games together say it has had a positive effect on their relationship.

I love video games just as much as my bf and we both play them, they can't ruin a relationship...Lack of understanding, effort and respect can...but games, no!

And to all the girls that nag about how your bf plays games all day..stop whining for gods sake! While he's playing you have the time for yourself, and why don't you try playing and see how fun it is instead of complaining...takes two to make a relationship work

It's not the video games really. It's your S.O. choosing the games over you. It's not the games fault if your hubby/wife is selfish and completely absorbed in games.

as long as tehy people who play the girl or boy or both. some ladies will play with you, some won't you to get off and pay attetion the idea is play some litte and pay atettion the one you love. if you don't any guy or girl will lose the person they like. moderation is key. Nothing worng with video games for 2-3 hrs than hang out with your wife help with your gf with shoping even though guys really like it. girls will appericate it and will do thins they don't like for you its all in moderation.

Yes, but then again anything can ruin a relationship is one party or the other is selfish or obscessed. Golf, sports, shopping, exercise, eating out, socializing, TV, cars, have all had a part in ruining some relationships. Each can lead to fighting, neglect, and divorce. Video games are no different than any other activity,

The only way they can't ruin a relationship is if both parties are gamers.

People choosing video games over a person is what can end relationships.

Don't blame your relationship problem on inanimate objects, people when you know that it is ultimately your or the other person's fault.

We both play our own games and it works out nicely. I think Facebook is a bigger pain in the neck. We don't bother with that at all. If my friends and family want to know what I am doing - pick up the phone and find out.

Yes. I believe anything that BYU has researched because they are highly qualified and the University is number one! They have the best programs and the coolest videos, movies, shows etc. plus the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I feel in my own relationship I am currently involved with my boyfriend, John Steven G. that everyone around us sees how much in love I am with him and they are extremely jealous of our being together. They don't have the same thing going in their own lives and want to protest and do anything in their power to destroy relationships because they are immature, nosy, irresponsible, inept at having anything work for them and plain lazy in their own lives. Some couples and people will try to learn how to be more loving and mature but most of these people where I live are just plain crude, ruthless and have nothing nice to say or to do so they want misery for others in love. On Valentines Day they totally tried to ruin it for myself by telling my boyfriend to flirt with this girl in the street because we had been gone to the Salvation Army overnight for two nights and she went out of her way to go and find my boyfriend to see what he was up to when we got back she couldn't help it she ran over to where we were standing and started staring at ...

(I won't say her name to protect myself and my family) Woooooo and I just think that is so immature of him but I know he does that because he needs the Lord's help and spirituallity. All I can do is pray and hope he will change his attitude about ogluing and ooooo at women that have attacked me in the past using physical abusive striking and hitting me and left me bleeding for three weeks with blood clots. I can't help to shake my head at him and question his thinking. For someone so young like her and so little looking she can really power hit someone and actually injure or kill them. I think she uses that to fool people that she is young and helpless playing up her skinny side so men will look at her and notice her more than their partners. Where do these people learn how to hit and more importantly where can victims go to learn the technique that they use and how to avoid them altogether and defend themselves and their loved ones including their boyfriends. I know other countries have schools where they train young people to do things and they come here to the United States to do whatever they have learned in their own country.. loved boyfriends countries schools train young people united learned country South American women sublimanal messaging South American women sublimanal messaging South American women sublimanal messaging South American women sublimanal messaging http://dovegreyreader.typepad...

My goodness, but you are a truly disturbed person. Never heard ANYONE talk such blather about themselves. You are such a paragon of virtue and every one is so jealous of what you've got; and what you've got is a man who ogles and woo woo's at other girls? My, how lucky you are. And you've been beaten up because these other women are so jealous of you? Are you sure it isn't because you're self-righteous and truly obnoxious? I'm not condoning violence, believe me. And my, how you do go on.

I know it can ruin relationships, I've seen it happen. An old neighbor of mine was addicted to EverQuest and his wife left him because of it.

I also know that video games can build better relationships...if your wife likes to play video games. Thankfully mine does.

It's called moderation. Also, Facebook leads to divorce because some women are so insecure that they just can't help themselves but log themselves into their lovers profile, or just even stalking it. She sees a girl on his friends list, asks about it, and BAM! Trust is gone. When are people going to be responsible for their own ass?
