TMZ reports that Wimbledon champion Serena Williams is putting her tennis career on the side to pursue a slightly different career...as a rapper.

We're told Serena hit the studio last week to lay down a few tracks ... and is working with a record label owned by Minnesota Vikings star Bryant McKinnie. During the session, we're told Serena did some work with renowned hip-hip producer DJ Clue ... and she wasn't half-bad.

This will be in addition to her fashion designing job and co-ownership of the Miami Dolphins.

We're always a little bit skeptical when we hear about a new celebrity trying to break into the music business, but we'll just have to wait and see. Serena's got game.

OF course she can do it. Her and sister are superstars of the biggest degree. They have made a mark deep in the big money with just about everything they have tried. Why can't she do this? Tennis isn't going to be the big ticket much longer. The older he and sis get the less they will play.
