Can Hollywood Starlets Glamorize the DNC?

Last week, Republicans unleashed their biggest Hollywood gun: Clint Eastwood. Eastwood's rambling dialogue with an empty chair backfired leaving many to wonder if his appearance did the party more harm than good. But it looks like Democrats are taking a different approach. As their Hollywood ammo, Democrats are reportedly going to roll out a bevy of Hollywood starlets to help boost the women’s vote and the glamour factor.

eva longoria

A tentative schedule provided to CNN revealed that three of Hollywood’s hottest young actresses -- Scarlett Johansson, Natalie Portman and Kerry Washington -- may be surprise speakers at Thursday’s festivities. If they do take the podium, they’ll join already confirmed guest Eva Longoria. While the “Desperate Housewives” star might seem like an odd representative, she’s very politically active and is one of the national co-chairs for President Barack Obama's reelection campaign.

Collectively, these Hollywood starlets represent a diverse ethnic slate of voters: Johansson is Caucasian, Portman is Jewish, Washington is African-American and Longoria is of Mexican-American descent. Plus, they appeal to women and the younger generation of voters that is so aggressively sought-after by both parties. So, what do you say: Can these Hollywood starlets glamorize the DNC?

    No...it will confirm in the average American mind, that O'blame-o is not a "regular guy", but an elitist, and an incompetent, self-absorbed narcissist, that feels very comfortable with the viral leftist, anti-American, enviro-fanatical Hollywood community.

    I have to admit though, I really want to take my political and economic advice from an actress that specializes in adultry on her weekly tv show.

    Checked the polls? Heeeee's slipping!

    No. I'm sick of celebrities doing commercials, selling products, and being involved in everything. Stick to your day job & shut your mouth. We don't care what you think; most of you aren't intelligent anyway.

    I voted no, but I wish there had been at least another choice of neither or undecided.I'm just not sure. personally, I'd rather hear what has to be said than listen to Clint Eastwood, Charleton Heston, a bunch of beauty queens or whoever. Yes, they have their right to speak their opinions, I'm just not how sure any of them have anything important to say. All of you who enjoy that sort of thing, that is your opinion and I'm not saying you arewrong. I'm simply saying what I believe.

    like Clint Eastwood said there are plenty of conservatives in hollywood its just that most dont go around show boating about it like others do...the dems need these big names to get people to pay attention cuz people like stars...its a simple truth...stars dont live in the real world they have money to do whatever they want when they want...they are not affected by taxes, odumbacare, everyday things that most people deal with...they are not going without anything & people that are broke are still going out & paying to see their movies or buy the cds...it makes no sense to me at all!!! they only time stars care about fans is when they are getting rich off of them!!!!

    I thought all his supporters had important messages to share. Candidates want civic minded people in their corner, including Hollywood stars, homemakers, or anyone who cares about their country.

    They are of the same supercilious type who made it very big on the American dollar, yet support the democratic partyline of statism. Who they support, as well as the policies of the left only serve to get in the way of everyday Americans who are trying to run their small businesses (main provider of jobs) because of profit gutting taxes and regulations. Job creation is secondary to running a business; it is the creation of wealth, which spreads (you have a service or product to provide which the public wants) and then the requirement actually kicks into gear to hire someone to fill a desired position to make more money for that particular company. Clint Eastwood got it right; WE THE PEOPLE OWN THIS COUNTRY! As a woman business owner, I do NOT relate with the hollywood leftist female establishment. I'd like to hear from more conservatives within the entertainment community.

    Their presence is neither here nor there, their gross pay packages equates a slap in the face of Joe average ~ For at the end of the day they do not contribute one iota to the debate, nor carry sufficient kudos to sway the vote of an electorate whose life circumstances are in stark contrast to the frippery of the Hollywood scene.

    As Americans very easily forget things that happen, I think we have forgotten the painful and shocking events that took place during his presidency. Monica Lewinsky scandal. Bill Clinton is the most interested in supporting Obama-Biden (Osama Binladen), starting with the alteration of Obama's birth certificate.

    Even the late great Bob Hope? He may have been Republican and supported Republican candidates, but his political jokes never offended anybody. He had no malice in his humor.The same could be said about the political humor of the late Will Rodgers.

    Hollywood supports the liberal left and they distract from the convention. The majority of the young are very much influenced by the glamour of Hollywood and often looks on how they view the world and vote accordingly. Unfortunately, many of the young believe the garbage these people say and do not have a realistic view of the world and especially how they should vote. Most or the majority of Hollywood live in gates communities and do not even have a realistic view of the world themselves. They think they know best. Hollywood corrupts the minds of the many. For someone who has the stage (Hollywood entertainers) at different entertaining events need talk about politics because people are there for the entertainment and not to hear thier political beliefs or agenda;

    As Americans the stars have the right to their political opinions. Their celebrity really does not enhance that position. As Clint Eastwood's monologue may have been entertaining, I find it no more damaging to the a republican message any more or less than the ventings of a Matt Damon, Barbra Streisand or Cher to the Democrat party's message.

    Can be both. Depends if the "star" has been serious in their interest in the campaign. Eva Longoria has been working for Obama for some time. Some of the others, including Clint Eastwood just seemed to be brought in for the "star" value.
