Bullet for My Valentine: for adolescents
A Day to Remember: For adults
I'm going to add a non-sequitur here:
The phrase "Bullet for my Valentine" reminded me of the very first reality tv show that came out in the mid-90's. It showed a group of unrelated people living together in a flat in England. This group was put together by the producers of the show to, apparently, deliver the maximum amount of human tension that could be shown for that date.
It was Valentines day and one of the girls bought a very special gift for her very special boyfriend. It was a pigs heart with three large nails driven through it. She was on assignment and couldn't give it to him herself so she had it delivered while she was away.
The drama surrounding this episode revolved around the young man trying VERY hard to figure out exactly what this gift must mean! Out of the blue he gets a box delivered to him from this girl he really likes and maybe loves on Valentines day. He opens it and here's this organ with three nails driven through it. He believes he loves her and being kind of traditional he had sent her a card or a box of chocolates or flowers or some such. He gets a reeking pigs heart with nails in it.
Much of the show then shows this guy walking this box with pigs nailed heart around to the contestants of the show and other peo...

Much of the show then shows this guy walking this box with pigs nailed heart around to the contestants of the show and other people they've been involved with him asking them what they think this must MEAN. No one can give him a good answer.
The end of the show the girlfriend comes back and throws her arms around him, thanks him for his gift, and asks him how he liked hers. Well, he says, what exactly does this mean? She replies it's a pigs heart with the nails representing Cupids arrows through it showing her love for him. Like that ought to be obvious. Especially after all the drama the show was producing. That guy was pretty straight and his girlfriend was pretty wild, sort of a cross between punk and goth which would have been a good description for the wild type in that day.
I don't recall how the two ended up, but I hope they ended up happy and together.
For some reason the name of this song reminded me of that episode on that TV show.
This is my non-sequitur of the week.
waaaaay better
