She actually has not been in the business that long to be considered a comeback. And she certainly didn't disappear long enough to be considered a comeback. 3 or 4 years out of the loop doesn't justify "quite a number of years". She signed her recording contract in 1997 and her debut album came out in January 1999. Mariah Carey has 19 of the top 75 most requested hits on Pop Culture Madness survey for songs from 1990 to 1999 - more hits than any other female solo artist. Madonna, Janet Jackson and Whitney Houston have all topped the charts over Ms. Spears and led the way for her and other pop female artists of today. When she has been in the business for 20 plus years and really disappears for a significant amount of time and comes back with a number one album with 1 or more top singles then I'll consider her a comeback success. Otherwise she never really left us, not yet anyway. I wish her much success.

Just because it isn't rock, doesn't make it 'pop' =P Aerosmith weren't 'popular' at least not in the uk, at least not with anyone but the indy's and the goths (and at the time, they weren't too numerous)

I love Aerosmith, they don't deserve to be put in the same genre as these people... same with Santana.

Okay this is going to be a bit of a stretch because a lot of people hate Bieber. (I'm also not up to date with my latest pop groups XD)

Imagine Bieber was actually liked by pretty much everyone. (Didn't know a person who didn't like her, at least to some extent). Now, imagine he had about five years near on constant success.

Then...all of a sudden everything starts falling to pieces for him. Friends dying young due to cancer, two divorces, hounded by the press... then the depression kicks in. I mean, it really kicks in, when you see people claiming depression and just being a bit mopey for a few weeks...that's just being slightly unhappy as far as this depression is concerned.

Thus effectively Bieber loses many of his fans, all record deals flop with no new ones coming up, almost completely destroying his career from the top down.

That is what Britney Spears effectively went through. Now to hear that shes come back and snatched a $16 USD deal is amazing. Regardless about what people think about her, she's done really well.

LOLLLLL is that serious?? She was the reigning pop princess of the 2000's and she's back on top since 2008. Everybody knows her, she's a legend.

I don't think Britney Spears or Jennifer Lopez can really sing, so I don't understand why they're judging other people's singing

It was between Chris Brown or Steven Tyler. Because I love Steven Tyler. But Chris brown has made a comeback not only from childhood. But after being abusive. Still is famous and loved. Top of the charts! Mind blow.

brittney spears as an x factor judge. hahaha they found somebody worse than paula. that shows gonna sink like the titanic. simon needs to hang his head in defeat. abandon x factor to its demise and go back to american idol. they could knock off tyler or lopez and it wouldnt tip that boat.

I hate to say it, because I think that boy is a terrible person. That being said, he managed to beat a well-respected female artist to a pulp, have it all over the news, and get back on top of the charts in no time flat.

Britney Spears...is going to be judging singers? For $15 million?

Guess Simon Cowell didn't have as many people wanting to come on board as he thought.

Surprised anyone would want to, after the choices he made about the judging panel after last season.

Gotta go with the classic rockers

Aerosmith broke up for a while, patched things up and have been doing pretty well ever since.

Tina turner went away & came back strong. Same with Heart.

Santanna is great. But, his comeback was kinda short lived.

I gotta laugh at Britney Spears being #1 right now because her comeback hasn't even happened yet.

    Haven't heard anything official yet.

Besides, how well is it going to go over? She embarrassed herself the last time she attempted a comeback.

Not wishing her any bad luck or anything. Just saying we can't judge it because it hasn't happened yet.

She is not worth the $15mil to judge. Worth way less. Besides there other girls in their teens are singing the style as she did in 1997.And are paid less money.
