There was speculation that Britney Spears wasn't going to come back to "The X Factor" for a second season -- but now it's practically official. Though a FOX spokesperson had no comment on the reports at this time, TMZ broke the news Wednesday night, quoting "unimpeachable sources."

Reportedly, Britney Spears decided to walk away from the show herself, because she knew she would not be asked back for a second season on the panel. Spears' presence as a judge didn't spike ratings as Simon Cowell had hoped and that $15 million paycheck Britney got hasn't exactly paid for itself. Still, did you like Britney Spears as a judge on "The X Factor"? Or was her own "X-factor" missing?

The decline of the talent shows has me elsewhere on the sidelines. The judges are mostly selected for their celebrity and not their talent, so they are not even a match for iCarly or its replacement show Marvin!

I use to like Britney 10 years ago (since I was young and stupid..) Britney once had talent, but now she doesn't sing live and doesn't even dance that much anymore.
The fact that her and Demi judge a show that's based on singing talent is beyond me.

Britney Spears is a young beautiful and talented person. Once she had big problems, and those once problems still remain with her in the eye of the public. She has cleaned her act up, as she has gotten older, but still the immaturity she showed in the past sticks to her like flies on crap.

I don't think she was really interested in being a judge. She was in the middle of touring for Femne Fatale when she was approached for the job. Britney probably would have done a better job if she took a break from her career and then agreed.

Britney is far more than a pop icon, she is one of the most underrated talents on the music and entertainment scene. The only reason I ever watched the show was because of her participation, and if she goes I'll have no reason to tune in again.
