Britney Spears: Classy Comeback or Trampy Trailer-Trash?

In the spirit of fairness, and since I posted a PolyTicks cartoon two years ago "bashing" Britney for her paparazzi panty-peek episode (see original comic here: http://polyticks.smackjeeves.com/comics/453512/oops-she-did-i... ), I thought it only right that I should recognize the amazing comeback she's accomplished on the tail-end of 2008 (Click on the poll image to the left to see the full-size "Comeback" cartoon).

After a series of events that can only be described as "crazy" -- including the infamous panty-peek (or should I say "no-panty peek"), tongue-kissing Madonna at the MTV Music Awards, shaving her head and attacking a car with an umbrella, and a dismal earlier attempt of a comeback at the 2007 VMAs -- Britney Spears salvaged her career in an amazing comeback, releasing a new CD and a hit single, "Womanizer."

In the music video for the new single, Britney writhes naked in a sauna. Well, she's still flashing her audience... only this time, she's doing it "tastefully." And since then, she's released a new single: "If U Seek Amy," which is a trashy play on a not-so-clever euphamism (say it out loud, slowly). Maybe the comeback is destined to be short-lived?

Is it just me or does anybody else miss the sweet, innocent Mickey Mouse Club days?

    There's no question about that. I just see her losing her soul to the industry if she's not able to escape the sleazy downslide in which she appears to be rolling. She's better than that, and I'm rooting for her.

    Britney USED to have a promising future in the music business, back when she released her first album. But soon afterward, the people controlling her career led her into a life of virtual prostitution. They molded a sweet, innocent girl into a yound lady who brags that she's "not that innocent" anymore. If they hadn't made her up to look and act like a sl**, then she would have had a great future. No wonder she had her breakdowns! Even now as she makes her "comeback," she is is a slave to the industry and is selling herself in a very trashy way. It's a tragedy and I hope she can someday regain once and for all what was lost to her.
