It seems that not everyone spent their Thanksgiving at home with turkeys, relatives and football this weekend; it was also a record breaking week at the movies. Thanks to big earners like “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part Two,” “Skyfall” and “Lincoln,” the box office took around $290 million this weekend: the highest earning Thanksgiving weekend ever, according to MTV.
The final part of the “Twilight” saga was always going to be a big earner, and it held onto it’s number one spot for the second week running. It has now taken $227 million domestically, as well as a further $350 million overseas.

“Skyfall” is easily the most successful of the James Bond series so far, and took a further $51 million last week, putting it at number two. Steven Spielberg’s “Lincoln” made number three with $34.1 million, and has made $62.2 million so far.
Dreamworks’ latest animation “Rise of the Guardians” was expected to cause trouble for “Breaking Dawn” but has underperformed, taking $32.6 million and debuting at number four. This makes it Dreamworks’ least successful opening since “Flushed Away” in 2006.
Do you still enjoy going to the movies?

My local library has an extensive collection of movies on DVD; I can sit in the peace and quiet of my living room, kick off my shoes, and enjoy a glass of brandy along with the movie.
I'll spend less $$ and buy the DVD, nstay home, be comfortable, eat what i want, put it on pause when I want a munchie or to pee and not have to do 'the slide' past other people who ARE watching the movie.... * 'scuse me, pardon me....'scuse me, oops....sorry...pardon me....'
and why do people choose a crappy love story over an awesome action movie
I think not
Having said that, I didn't see any of those movies this past weekend and probably won't see any of them as none of them interest me personally.
Ill just go to the bar for that price.
However, the Movie Houses in my town want to ruin the experience... While you can not watch a movie for $7, on a very large screen, in a fairly comfy seat.. the theatres around here want to convert them all to Restaurant/Bar/Entertainment Venues.. Now the movie ticket is $18, and that is before you pay $10 for a drink. And, while you are trying to watch the movie, Waiters keep ducking back and forth serving people, causing your attention to leave the screen.
I'm thankful for Home Theaters - - definitely the way of the future.
Honestly people is cinema etiquette really that difficult.
