Talk about tough love...
After singer Brandy and her "Dancing with the Stars" professional dancing partner Maks Chmerkovskiy got chewed out for their lukewarm performance last week, Maks decided to turn up his training routine with a little bit of physical scolding.
The training video that was played before their samba routine showed Maks reprimanding her with slaps on the wrist and butt, roughly moving her body into position, and telling her sternly to do what he tells her.
"Brandy is one of those people that needs somebody tough, somebody who gets her to do things," he explained.

After their impressive performance, two of the three judges came down on him for his harsh methods.
Len Goodman said, "I didn't like that whole way of training," and Carrie Ann Inaba even tried to spank him before he added, "I don't condone that kind of teaching, but it worked."

Brandy, on the other hand, defended her partner. After the training video, Maks appeared distraught at the way he was portrayed, but Brandy was all smiles and kissed him on the cheek.
She said, "My sensitive side feels that Maks bullies me, but I know he's trying to make me better and he really believes in his process. So it's just about the strongest people getting through it."
