Brad Pitt's New Movie, 'Killing Them Softly,' Is a Box Office Flop: Are You Planning to See It?

I blame the pr team behind the movie i never even heard of it till i saw this post lol. everyone and there grandma knows the hobbits about to come out everyone knew about the avengers. thats why those type of movies make so much money you have to market and make sure people know about the movie and build up its excitment. its not enough to just say oh well brad pitt, angelina, will smith or some other big name is staring in a film. you have to promote it as well whoever did the movie probably assumed since brad pitt was in it that was enough marketing well i guess they got there wake up call. get a better pr team behind you next time brad.

So sick of these mediocre action movies.

PItt's a terrific actor and I know why this is a flop. The previews for KILLING THEM SOFTLY are advertising one film (Tarantino-esque crime thriller), and people are getting something else (meditative crime thriller amongst socio-political backdrop), hence the F Cinemascore. This is similar to the Joss Whedon/Drew Goddard comedy-horror THE CABIN IN THE WOODS, which, despite its 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, still received a C- via Cinemascore because people were led to believe it would be one thing and were upset when it was something else. I'm interested in just about everything Pitt does because he does take a lot of risks for a Hollywood Star, and it has James Gandolfini, Ray Liotta and Richard Jenkins. I'm not lining up, but I'll see it eventually.

I don't like Brad Pitt.

So? I don't get this. I don't care for most movie stars, male or female, but if the movie is considered good, I'll go see it.

If I don't think the lead actors have any talent, I won't see the movie. Like, for instance, Adam Sandler. I won't see his flicks either, no matter how many raves they get.

Hasn't really caught my interest.

My girlfriens said it's so violent she was bored. I get it. I fell asleep during one of the Die Hards because I was bored with things blowing up.

This was supposed to come out in September. They kept changing the release date I kinda stopped paying attention. I didn't know it was finally out.

Why do mediocre actors like him get all the attention when there are amazingly talented actors out there that could use some good movies roles? I honestly don't think anyone would argue that Brad Pitt is overrated. The only movie i ever really liked from him was fight club, and that's only because Edward Norton (who by the way is actually talented) got rid of him at the end.

Who knows, maybe this is actually a good movie...but I'm not willing to spend my money on it.

Maybe when I can see it for free on Hulu or Netflix. =). Don't really wanna spend 20 bucks on it in the theater.

My wife and I went to see a movie the other day. We haven't been in a while (a long time)

20 bucks for the movie and then 30 for popcorn 2 sodas and a box of candy.

Never went back. I then ordered netflix and blockbuster.

Lol. Yup. Scared straight...... To streaming movies.

Never heard of it. He's completely over-rated.

well let's see now...the same ppl that put Obama in office made yet another vampire movie a box office hit.....yeah, i can't wait to see a real actor play a developed character in a decent script.

I saw it. It wasn't bad.

The stupid part about it was the overbearing political tones and the anti-Capitalist message delivered by Pitt himself at the end. Dumb!

He's not my fav. actor, and lately his movies just aren't that good IMHO.

Nobody will notice it happen... most of it is accomplished already. The difference between owning the world and owning nothing is your ability to prove it. I can say I own anything I want but can I prove it...? There are 2 ways of owning something... Force and Title. Dictators take ownership of things by removing the ability of others to resist them coming to claim the property. Our current govt is removing our ability to resist more and more everyday..! He has washed away but not as bad as Tom Cruise who was washed up even before MI1 came out. I also do not approve of Pitt's stance on Marijuana or his political views. AO is okay since she seems to be genuinely concerned about doing good in the world
