Brad Pitt Can Be Hired By Text: Down to Earth or Unprofessional?

He’s one of the biggest movie stars on the planet, but apparently it doesn’t take much to get Brad Pitt interested in your film. According to Andrew Dominik, who directed Pitt in 2007’s “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford” and this year’s “Killing Them Softly,” all he had to do to was send Pitt a book -- and a text.

Speaking to USA Today, Dominik explained: “I'd sent him the book [“Killing Them Softly”] two weeks before and I didn't think he was going to be available. I thought I'd get another actor. But then I realized, 'I sent it to him so I'd better text him first or it's rude.' He was doing “Moneyball” and I wasn't expecting to hear back from him. I asked him if he was interested. And he wrote back, 'Yes.” I was as surprised as everyone else was." Do you think that was a down-to-earth thing for Brad Pitt to do, or was it unprofessional?

I think the are things we can be professional about, its not everything and everything that we should be professional and we have to look into things that we have to be professional about and stop making a fuss about things and if text makes life easy for some of the things to be done without any problem,I don't see anything unprofessional about it!

VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. You young people today are making more and more things unprofessional. Soon you will just mail kids books and have have them text you answers to quizzes/tests. "We don't need stinking schools" "Lets work form home and text the work in" Laziness is all it is......

Number one, it shows that even at his level of success, (he has definitely transcended his pretty boy image and become a FINE actor) he still has the desire to work. It's HIS choice which films to work on, and it's the quality of the script/storyline that attracts him, not the commercial prospects.

Also, He has 6 kids to support (what with his deadbeat girlfriend appearing so seldom of late) and has to keep plugging.

I never got the obsession with this trashy guy. Guess I never will. I'm a face person and his skin is just gross, he has small, close set eyes, and always looks greasy.

He is a consumate actor, and certainly capable of reading and selecting his own scripts, and managing his own career.

Maybe he was a little busy when he responded or was still contemplating the idea of doing the part and suddenly decided he actually did want to do it when he was asked. The director or whoever did text him first didn't he?

Obviously not everyone has Brad's phone number. Those who do are entitled to use it as he and they see fit. This was a wonderful example of effective time management by both parties.

In his situation he could piss "yes" in the snow and the directors would be cheering with excitement. What the hell? It isnt as if he is a judge or a surgeon. He's an actor and its a movie.

He got the request via text and responded by the same medium. Besides, he's Brad Pitt. He can afford to be as unprofessional as he wants at this point.

Seeing as most movie deals are initially struck in a fairly casual fashion (over drinks/dinner), what's the difference here?

He was sent the book to read. Then txt him to ask if he was interested. Pitt said yes. Just shows we don't always need 400 lawyers to do everything.

For Pitt to not respond in the first place when he recieved the book was unprofessional even though I am sure he is a busy guy... he could have sent a thank you even if he did it by texting...

Actors are never expected to respond to unsolicited submissions. The fact that he read the book and responded to the text is super cool. If you had any idea how many books, scripts, and other submissions actors like Brad Pitt receive, you wouldn't expect a response either.
