Thursday would have been Whitney Houston's 49th birthday, and her adoring daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown paid tribute by getting a tattoo on her wrist of her mom's initials surrounded by doves. Close family friend Nick Gordon also got the same ink in Whitney's memory.

Earlier on Wednesday, Brown tweeted: "On the way with MYbooboo @nickgordon :)heading2 #Inksomnia for our TATTSSS !this is for you mommy (: we love you, happybirthday Ourlady XXo." Brown later posted an Instagram picture of the tattoos.
Meanwhile, 14-year-old Paris Jackson is hoping to follow in Bobbi Kristina's footsteps, tweeting on Tuesday: "I kinda want to get August XXIX tatted on my back" (which is her father, Michael Jackson's birthday). She added, "lol y'all are trippin trying to tell me not to get the tat, when u guys don't even know what it means … it's my dads bday get over it lmao." What do you think? Are tribute tattoos a nice way to remember loved ones?

Commander Pyle 2012/08/11 05:42:57No+7I would prefer not to be remembered in the form of a tattoo, nor a shirt, neither a social media page. My mind can remember those who were close to me enough that I do not need a permanent image on my body.

Tats are for thugs and hookers or people that don't give a tinkers darn about their bodies.
I have a tat in fact I have 4 WORST MISTAKE I EVER MADE.
Yes tats are good if you are killed and they cant find an ID but PEOPLE YOU BETTER BE WALKING THE STRAIGHT AND NARROW FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE....commit a crime and guess what the only thing they will remember? Not the looks or the clothes but that tat if they see it.
Next thing you know the long arm of the law is busting your door down and you have suddenly become a guest of the city you live in with your own personal ID other then your tats.
I don't expect you to live for me and I certainly don't live for you.
Tattoos are ugly and have no meaning to me. Plus, they get uglier the older you get. BTW - I don't like pink flamingos or concrete geese either.
Personally, I'm generally a forgetful person, but if something is important to me, it's in my mind.
I can't see making myself a walking artistic billboard of a conversation piece.
By people getting tattoos they open themselves up to profiling. People with tattoos on their face, neck, hands, fingers are perceived as being lower class with a lower IQ. Women with tattoos on their lower backs are considered tramps (tramp stamp). By permanently marking your body you take a risk that this will be an embarrassment later.
i think that mai choice of only stars is innocent enough.. and that some imagery is certainly intended to create a fear or hate response in those who see them - again it is an individual situation.
If i were covered with 37 swastika instead of tiny flowing stars.. the perception of me would be very different i think ja ne?
Tattoos are often a form of memorial or honor of some person, some event of some thing deeply meaningful to the person wearing the tattoo. i do not really think they need it to remember.. it is more of a focus for emotional focus
Many people need a head stone to honor a dead person.. they may also insist on placing the dead body in an air-tight coffin and burying it in the ground.. this is not really done for the dead person.. they do not need it. It is done for the living who wish to be reminded of the dead person.
So memorial tattoos are really very much the same i think.
Your stars aren't that big of a deal where they're located. I understand how you like its meaning and art. But again, some people like plastic pink flamingos in their front yards...I think they're ugly. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
I heard a comedian on America's Got Talent who talked about a girl's cute butterfly on the bottom of her lower back. He said, "When she gets old, it will look like a moth hit a windshield!" It got a lot of laughs and he made it into the finals this week.
It's been a nice chat. ;)
I have a tattoo of a sea turtle for my daughter's birth. I am getting one of a giraffe for my son's birth. I also have 2 birds and some flowers on my back as a representation of my faith (the main flower has the kanji for faith in the middle of it). I would love to get something for my wedding date and also in memory of those I've lost that mean so much to me, just haven't figured out what yet.
I'm not forcing anyone else to get a tattoo, nor do I force them to look at mine. It is a personl choice.
Isn't that really what "Grave markers, tombstones and plaques on crypts" are for?
*(50 first dates type memory loss condition)
sincere way to commemorate someone. Especially a loved one or a close friend. Nude
images can be especially meaningful as long as they a are done with proper regards to
good taste, and are not flaunted or otherwise readily visable to the general public. By
not readily visable, I mean a person might be displaying his/her tat in full view while attired
in swimwear or nude, but the tattoo would be only minimally visable when wearing a pair
of short shorts and a top. That would still leave pretty good size area on the chest, back,
and shoulders for a tattooist's palate. Also, I belive that both Bobbie Christina and Paris
should both wait until they are at least sixteen before induldging in any kind of permanate
tattooing. Be they commemorative, or otherwise.
No, if you were just a fan or a hanger-on.
