Granted I can agree with someone blocking someone if they are being harrassed, but why oh why would someone comment on something you say, neither of the comments ugly, and then block you?

Again, I respect and have the right to block, but if I am going to leave you a comment, wouldnt an adult at least wait until the other has commented back?

There are lots of sock puppets on here that will block you because they know you from previous debates and have been blocked by you. I block people that just don't know when to stop. I also give them fair warning that they are about to be blocked. I'm not here to deal with people that are unreasonable (like the conspiracy nuts) who despite all kinds of factual data, can't be convinced of anything, and can't come to a rational resolution - even an "agree to disagree". They get blocked because I don't ever want to have to deal with them again as there just isn't any point in it.

I'm not in a contest to prove how many jerks I can talk to without blocking them. I love a good debate that is respectful with people who have opinions that differ from mine, but I won't subject myself to insults, personal attacks of any kind, name calling or just plain doggedness without having anything new to say. If you use "moron, idiot, libtard or any other nasty attack" you get blocked. I don't want to talk to you.

I notice you use the Democratic party symbol for the cowards choice - as a Dem, I can assure you I feel exactly the same way about being blocked before I can respond. Or my current favorite - a blocker who changes his response after s/he blocks.

i honestly was not inferring any political agenda with that symbol, I know to each individual perception is reality, but nothing political about it, as the reason I was blocked for no reason had nothing at all to do with politics.

and cowards both really ive only had to block one person for spewing hate on one of my poles for no good reason. They were rude, mean, and unnecessary i had it with arguing with them because it was pointless. He came back on another account and commented then blocked me isn't that sad he is an impostor is what he is.

I think people block people when they don't want to engage in discussion, because they are unable to defend their position. If someone threatens someone, or causes them to feel threatened, that is a valid reason for blocking.

I think that, in their naive way, these people honestly believe that by doing this they're proving their point beyond a shadow of a doubt. It's very troubling that so many people, who are supposed to be considered adults, still seem to be perpetually stuck in the 2nd grade; at least mentally, it seems. *sigh* It's amazing what people will miss out on when they choose to narrow their thought process down to the breadth of a pinpoint.

Both of the above? I have been blocked for simply disagreeing with someone. Personally, I only block the bullies. I can discuss and agree or disagree with someone politely who responds in kind. When they start calling me names or calling me stupid or someone other BS because I don't agree with them, they're outta here. I've got enough stress in my life without that kind of crap in my leisure, fun time!

Not long ago someone started posting rude and disgusting things on someone poll that was my friends, I was about to answer it when I saw all the downraves. I scrolled down and saw the man who was disrespecting everyone - he had just joined and what he said made me angry, so I replied nice and calmly telling him he should show some respect and maybe should be a little nicer. He then proceeded to put up nasty , repulsive pictures of things that you don't wanna know about and called me a whole bunch of names I don't care to mention. What he kept saying to my one friend threw me over the edge.

I said some more things back to him telling to leave everyone alone and to leave this site. Then after getting bcak all of the nasty obnoxious reply's I was done and blocked him, but he was able to send me a message somehow - telling me to go back to the page and look at what he had said. It said moderated. Really? After everything that he had said and I have been moderated by 2 people? I don't know what happened.

Some people are just retarded and only do it for attention or just because they're mean and because they can.

If a new profile shows up doing things like that it is more likely than not a fake profiile. Most of the time it is a member who has created more than one profile to attack. If they are especially over the top and keep on with it I would report them and tell Soda Head that you would like them to look at the profile and see if it is fake. They can look at all of their comments and can usually tell if they are fake and will delete it.

My favorite to date happened today. In a news item regarding Sarah Palin I chose to stand up for her decision to leave office in order to go home and take care of her family while still making it apparent that I didn't agree with her politically. So a moderate who doesn't care for Palin either left a rude remark and immediately blocked me. Geez! Sometimes I really wonder about the logic capacity of my fellow SHs.

My favorite was the idiot who I thought was complaining about me giving her a downrave (I hadn't), and I replied that I hadn't. She replied saying that she was giving them to me because I was 'stupid.' Gee! Stupid as opposed to not even having a basic understanding of what a downrave is and why it should be used? I blocked her. Who needs morons like that around!

I have found that a lot of people block and downrave on this site just because they disagree with me and for no other reason. I for one do not block or downrave unless someone is offensive or uses foul language or attacks me personally but others do not feel the same.
