Green Day's front man Billie Joe Armstrong is entering rehab for substance abuse ... a rep for the band tells TMZ.

The
news comes just two days after Armstrong went ballistic in Vegas during
a performance at the iHeart Radio Music Festival. He was videotaped
screaming obscenities, slamming Justin Bieber and violently smashing his
guitar on-stage.

The band's rep tells TMZ, "Green day wants to apologize to those they offended at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas."

The rep adds, "The band regretfully must postpone some of their upcoming promotional appearances.“

I am not surprised, and I do not condone drug-taking, but this guy works so hard and the band is so tight, it had to happen sooner or later. His energy and charisma obviously is NOT boundless and he's been taking a little sumpin sumpin to help him along. Come on BJ - you're better than this! Your fans will love and support you no matter what!

I'm a Huge fan of green day, I know what Billy can be like seeing on youtube on their younger days. Anyway, I have seen their concerts and he performs good, so does the band.. and they wouldn't let a fan pay a lot of money for them to have a bad performance. I hope he will get better in rehab soon.. Hes right, Beiber is an *****.

If you are surprised, you are clearly not a Green Day fan :P Any fan knows the struggles with drugs over the years. The music is what counts. Most artists are troubled souls looking for an outlet. A way to escape life for a minute and, unfortunately, that often includes drug use of some kind. Not a fun fact, but a proven one.

I know that billies had problems, I'm not knocking him for that. Green day are one of my favourite bands I don't care if he's had or has had drugs! he's amazing!! I'm not surprised because he's been behind bars before... And personally I didn't actually know this until my sisters boyfriend told me!! I don't really try and see the darker sides of people because I know everybody has problems. :)
