Justin Bieber may be popular with his legion of fans who flock to his concerts and follow him on Twitter, but he isn’t getting much respect from the music industry. First, he was completely snubbed at this year’s Grammys. He didn’t even manage to garner one nomination. Some consider this a slap in the face to the megastar who earned both Best New Artist and Best Pop Vocal noms in 2011.
Others feel that Bieber just isn’t worthy of Grammy glory. One of those people is Black Keys drummer, Patrick Carney, who followed up his own wins at the ceremony by saying of Bieber to TMZ, “He's rich, right? Grammys are for, like, music, not for money... And he's making a lot of money. He should be happy, I guess." The Biebs was not pleased with his fellow artist adding insult to the injuries he had already suffered.

And he's making a lot of money. He should be happy, I guess." The Biebs was not pleased with his fellow artist adding insult to the injuries he had already suffered.

So Bieber did what any 18-year-old with over 34 million followers would do: he fought back via Twitter. The pop star's post got straight to the point, “the black keys drummer should be slapped around haha.” But was the “Never Say Never” star really joking? And if he was, is that still an appropriate notion to put in the minds of his rabid, impressionable fans?
The Beliebers immediately rallied around their hero and went on the attack against the Black Keys band member proving that hell has no fury like a tween scorned. For his part, Justin can now sit back and let the backlash continue without having to be in the fray.

Maybe the 32-year-old indie star shouldn’t have made the original comments about the teen singer. But Justin’s response might not have been the best example for how to handle a bad situation. What do you think? Whose side are you on?

- Mopheadmusic2000 2013/02/17 21:51:23Patrick Carney+2Bieber is a self-absorbed punk. He started out great but has reduced himself to a parody of "art." For those who caught his SNL appearance, the most telling lines occured in a skit of Bieber "look-alikes." JB pointed out that one of the guys was black and said, "He's black... He won't fool anybody."To which the manager responds to Biebs, "Yeah, you ain't either." But this punk with enormous talent will squander the good by his self-obsessed importance.reply

- heeheemee 2013/02/17 20:15:19Patrick CarneyThe Black Keys make good music, but it's not as great as all their Grammy noms this year would lead them to believe. Maybe if there were any more half-way decent music being made nowadays Patrick Carney wouldn't have such an inflated head. I feel bad for Bieber. He actually has talent, but he chose to be Usher's puppet to make lots of money instead of growing as a real musician. Maybe then he could have a more substantial comeback than suggesting violence.reply

- Pam 2013/02/17 06:44:05Patrick CarneyIts the truth, he needs to deal with it. He's a teeny bopper idol, of the same caliber of a Bobby Sherman, David Cassidy or Donny Osmond. Nothing wrong with it,just not Grammy material.reply
- MrSexyPants 2013/02/17 02:02:52Justin Bieberi can gauruntee 90% of the people who responded to this question voted against j-beibs just because they despise of him for some random-ass reason. but i'm gonna side with mr. beiber cuz the other guy basically said "i'm better than you, bitch." that's like someone saying "homecomming is for pretty people, you have a lot of friends, but i won king/queen cuz i'm hot. you have friends though, u should be happy." and i'd be dammed if someone said that to me! underhanded compliment. if u win something, u don't rub it in someone's face unless you're looking for a fight. or i guess in his case, more publicity.reply

+1If you're comfortable with who you are, other people's criticism's shouldn't mean anything to you. This guy is obviously confused about who he is, as evidenced in his movie "Boys Don't Cry"...reply - Aran Smeallie 2013/02/16 20:16:10Patrick CarneyIt was a discreet insult of any, I mean, you really shouldn't be so vain as to think that not getting nominated for the grammes is a slap in the face, as for beiber's reaction...well what would you expect from a 12 yeat old girl.reply
- Lucy Krueger 2013/02/16 19:29:15Patrick Carney+3I don't listen to the Black Keys, but Patrick was just voicing his opinion(which is true, btw), and Justin responded like an immature idiot would.reply
- macy 2013/02/16 18:01:34Patrick Carney+3What, so musicians aren't allowed to tell the truth now? Justin Bieber uses auto tune. His songs are unoriginal and annoying. He is also incredibly arrogant. If the Grammys didn't "snub" him, that would be the end of my respect for the modern music industry.reply
- Lydia Williams 2013/02/16 17:54:11 (edited)Justin Bieber+2Im siding with justin on this one, but just hear me out. One, i have no xlue who patrick carney is or who black keys is, so yah. Two, the diss patrick said was stuttered and not even meant to be a diss (in my opinion, again, no clue who he is) Three, justin was obviously kidding and his fans are making him look even more pathetic, but ive decided to give justin a break, because I'm pretty sure that wasn't meant to be taken seriously either.reply

they are someone who actually won grammy's this year. and biebers reply was so much more intelligent? i think justin sounds like a poor loser.reply - Lydia W... nat75 2013/04/08 01:12:10
I never said his response was more intellegent, what I was TRYING to point out that patrick carneys response wasn't even a diss, and I'm pretty sure this whole thing was blown out of proportion by the media, but thanks for twisting my words and making me sound like I'm an idiot when I didn't even watch the grammys and I'm only in middle school.reply
