According to E! Online, Ancestry.com claims to have discovered that Justin Bieber is a distant cousin to two other famous Canadians: pop punk singer Avril Lavigne and man of the moment Ryan Gosling. It turns out that Bieber and Gosling are 11th cousins once removed, through common relatives Mathurin Roy and Marguerite Biré (Justin’s 11th great-grandparents), whereas Lavigne is his 12th cousin. The family connection apparently dates back over 400 years to some of Quebec’s earliest settlers.
But that’s not all! Bieber’s 10th cousin three times removed is another incredibly successful Canadian recording artist -- none other than Celine Dion! Looks like Canada may be a smaller world than we thought . . .

Barrymore came from a famous family but I didn't know about Spielberg and Paltrow. It seems that everyone in Hollywood is related to someone.
One of my ancesters was William the Conqueror, King of England. Either he didn't have trouble with his name being dragged through the tabloids or he had a different way of dealing with them! Curious!
