Well, it’s official. There are more Beliebers in the world than there are Little Monsters. At least, if these things are being calculated in terms of Twitter followers, and really, what better indicator of popularity is there these days? For years, Lady Gaga has been the ruling queen of the social media site with more devotees than any other star in the Twittersphere. But on Monday, Justin Bieber stole her crown.

But this is likely to be an ever-evolving competition. While Biebs is currently on top with 33,410,713 followers, Gaga isn’t far behind at 33,392,389. And the difference of less than 20,000 followers could be as simple as one hit single or wardrobe malfunction.

Still, it seems like Bieber will have the edge for a while if he keeps up his current pace. After all, he adds an average of 37,000 new fans daily, while Gaga has a less stellar showing at 29,000. And if Justin keeps pulling stunts like this weekend’s Instagram photo in which he exposed his bare bottom, he could hold onto his edge.

Either way, Bieber and Gaga will most likely maintain the top two spots for a long time considering that third place celeb Katy Perry only has a measly 31.5 million followers to her handle. Still, not everyone is a devotee of the teenage pop star. Do you "follow" Justin Bieber on Twitter?

um in my opinion, which is almost always correct... justin beiber, i dont think that john edwards should have been nominated for biggest douche in the universe in south park, justin should have, for the love of God, he met the candian PM in overalls.
