Sure yesterday’s Super Bowl was a celebration of the finest that the NFL has to offer. And with a 34 to 31 victory, the Ravens just barely came out on top. But the first Sunday in February is about so much more than a bunch of beefy guys tossing around the pigskin.
For many it’s a celebration of food, music and good old-fashioned consumerism. So while diehard sports fans were agonizing over who would win the Harbaugh Bowl — brother John or Jim — a lot of people were focused on other topics.

Besides Thanksgiving, Super Bowl Sunday is the day when Americans consume the most food. So there’s always a lot of debate about what constitutes the perfect nacho and who makes the best chicken wings.
When it came to entertainment, it was the battle of the divas. Alicia Keys’ soulful Kickoff Show performance of the National Anthem was overshadowed by the poignancy of “America the Beautiful” by Jennifer Hudson and the students from Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. And Beyonce delivered a dance-fueled and definitely not lip-synced performance at halftime, which featured a Destiny’s Child reunion.
But the real stars were the commercials. The best included Volkswagen’s controversial “Get Happy” Jamacian-infused spot, The Rock’s “Got Milk commercial and Amy Poehler’s Best Buy ad.
Then, of course, there was the bizarre 33-minute delay thanks to a power outage. So football fans can talk all the want about the Ravens’ win. There were plenty of other highlights for people who could care less about football. What do you think? What was the highlight of the Super Bowl?

Some other thoughts:
1) The national anthem performance was HORRIBLE!!! Can they PLEASE stop having people perform our nationa anthem that refuse to sing it as it is written?
2) The halftime show sucked balls as I expected. Steel Panther would be an awesome choice for the future.
3) I pay no mind to the mindless commercials.
4) I made some KICKASS ribs and they were awesome! However, I skipped the desserts because I was just too tense in the second half.
5) I believe there was something to the power outage as it shifted momentum to the 49ers.
What I didn't care for was all the so call sexy women that seem to feel showing all of their curves and gyrating their body in a suggestive manor in front of children was appropriate...
At what point are women performers going to put their bodies up and start making a living off of their vocal talents....? It's ok to be healthy but why do these women feel it to be necessary to sale themselves as visual prostitutes...?
For the record.., I am a Straight male and loves the pleasures of a woman as much as any man.., I just happen to think there is a place and time for everything and if women wants to stop the feeling of being exploited then they need to put an end to their visual prostitution campaigns....JOMO
REMEMBER THE NAME!!!!! Once the commercials came on I watched that fine young man!
