nothing against others trying/living it (unless they try to force it on me) but I do best on a diet with a bit of everything. I wouldn't mind being able to afford more fruits and veggies though,

Beyonce lost all her "baby weight" because she was never actually pregnant. It's real easy to lose those pounds when you have a surrogate carry for you.

Vegetarian diet, probably, but Vegan is too extreme for me.

Beyonce is not a Vegan. She was just in Houston Texas for the BasketBall hoopla. As a vegan, she would not be eating cheese, eggs, or any meat.

I have, and, sometimes, I'm a lacto-ovo vegetarian (usually during springtime), but I have come to find I'm truly omnivorous (light on the meat). My weight isn't an issue.

I'm sure it had more to do with the way she works out and rehearses than being Vegan.

Being that my best friend is a vegan she has taken me to a few vegan places to convert me. I gave it an opened mind and tried it but its just not for me.

I'm vegan now, but a diet isn't necessarily healthy or effective for losing weight just because it's vegan--there are other factors to consider

If there is not some type of meat at a meal, I would bolt to the nearest sandwich shop.

But then again, did she ever really put on any weight ? We never saw her,"fat", except for one tv interview in which the weight shifted in an unnatural way when she moved. Did she ever really get pregnant or just have a surrogate carry the child ? They had an entire floor of the hospital locked down not even allowing parents of children in intensive care see their children when she was there ! By the way, would anybody know what this would do to her breast milk for the child ? It doesn't sound too healthy for them to have such a radical change in diet while doing that. If she really cared that is.

FINALLY! Someone else who's brought this up! Beyonce is in my celeb jerks top 10 for that hospital stunt. 3 days. For 3 entire days, they kept mothers from seeing their babies, including NICU babies. Absolutely disgusting. And all of it just to hide the fact she was never pregnant and had a surrogate carry for her.

Oh and to answer your breastfeeding question...As long as she was drinking a LOT of water and eating enough protein, she would still produce. Your body uses all your good stuff to keep baby healthy in the womb and does the same for breastfeeding. This is why even women in the poorest countries can breastfeed. Altho, I have heard of vegetarians and even vegan women eating light meats while breastfeeding.

Sure. I don't really like the thought of going without meat, but if I had to for some reason then that would be fine, provided I knew it was going to provide something tangible and useful in return.

We are meat eaters, why fight the food chain enjoy it. The weight thing makes sense but as a man, I am fed up dating women, going out to eat and coming home hungry because they vegan food or tapas. Give me a steak, ribs and chicken anyday.

I'm a solid vegetarian, but that's as far as I'll ever go, especially since I happen to agree with the above quote. And soy milk just doesn't cut it!

You do not need to be vegan to lose weight. In fact, you can maintain an unhealthy weight just by eating vegan friendly foods.

Indeed. And you can lose weight eating "unhealthy" foods as long as you stay physically active and regulate how much of them you're eating. I once lost nine pounds in a little over a month, even though I ate at fast food restaurants for lunch every day. They do provide nutritional information and it's not difficult to plan a filling yet non-fattening meal out of them.

It's not that I don't think it's a sound practice, but I'm not going to find enough sources of protein for my athletic needs to be able to do so appropriately. I'm very reluctant to rely solely on soy protein for the fact that it raises estrogen levels. If I was a woman, that would be fantastic. But I'm not.

No because if I go without meat for too long I get really bad headaches. It's already been over a week since my last steak and I've had a headache for the past 4 days now. Not even the chicken helped this time. Or the iron tablets, or my vitamins, or my medication, or the medicine I usually take for headaches - or the medicine I don't usually take.

But if I could get some medium rare steak in my belly I'd be good within an hour. But otherwise pork is the only thing that can ease my headaches for a bit. But I don't like eating that many sandwiches and ham makes my teeth feel weird if I eat it too much, even if it tastes good.

However, my mom keeps forgetting to buy steak and ham so I've been reduced to a diet of chicken basically. As much as I love chicken, I really don't like it twice a day every other day. I need red meat, I'm dying over here. Ugh.

So, no, a vegan diet is a total no-go for me. I'd be in bed all day with migraines if I did that. Plus I'd probably always feel like I'm starving if I did that.

Regardless, it wasn't the veganness of her diet that lost her weight. The worst fattening foods are all vegan-friendly.

I'm almost vegan now, with the exception of a minor amount of dairy products, and in terrific shape. Of course I work out a lot too, but the diet definitely helps.

I definitely think about cutting back a little on the meat, though. But I'd never give up fish.
