There could not have been greater anticipation leading up to Beyonce’s halftime performance at Super Bowl XLVII. Fans renamed the game Beyonce Bowl and Bravo viewers voted Lady Bey 51% likely to “win” the Super Bowl (with the Ravens taking 31% and the 49ers taking 18%). And boy did Queen B deliver!
After enduring criticism for lip-syncing at Obama’s second inauguration, Beyonce promised to sing live at the Super Bowl. And once again the 31-year-old performer proved that she is a force to be reckoned with. Sure the rising platforms, pyrotechnics, background dancers, all-black leather costumes, and projection screens were awesome. But Beyonce herself was the true star of the show.
Queen B worked her way through a medley of her hits (including “Love on Top,” “Crazy in Love,” “End of Time,” and “Baby Boy”) and was then joined onstage by Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland for a mini Destiny’s Child reunion. The trio performed “Bootylicious,” “Independent Woman,” and then collaborated on Beyonce’s “Single Ladies.” After Rowland and Williams left the stage, Beyonce closed out the show with a performance of “Halo.” What do you think SodaHeads? Was it the best Super Bowl halftime show ever?
