It's certainly looking like Beyoncé DID lip sync "The Star-Spangled Banner" at President Obama's second inauguration, shocking fans who are wondering why queen B — who really CAN sing — would botch such a major gig.

On Tuesday, Kristin DuBois, a spokeswoman for the United States Marine Band, seemed to confirm what we all fear to be true. "We received last-minute word that Beyoncé was going to use the prerecorded vocal track," she told The New York Post.

Later Tuesday, the Marines Corps released a statement saying that "no one in the Marine Band is in a position to assess whether (Beyoncé's singing) was live or prerecorded." Well, in any event, at least she didn't do a "hoedown" like Ashlee Simpson . . .

Milli Vanilli lip synced and had no talent. These other performers, as well as many others, have lip synced in the past due to the conditions of a live venue, but they have all proved that they DO have talent. BIG difference, People should just get over themselves and stop being so judgemental.

Any lip-syncing is fraudulent, so it was hard to choose an answer here. I chose Milli Vanilli because their debacle should have been a lesson for others to learn, but apparently they haven't.

I could not tell if she was lip syncing or not. I only saw her pull out an ear piece. She is not the first performer I have seen pulling out an ear piece. Pavorati lip synced his last live performance just before he passed away.

She did sing....jsut the mic was turned off.....standard contract ....when a performer of her caliber can not have adequate sound check....other alternatives are provided...

Who cares? It was freezing cold and I don't blame her. It's the band that was disappointing to me. They should be able to play anywhere in any weather.

I played in a tent during the local ski jumps two years in a row. It was 20 degrees when we set up and the heater got it to maybe 50 degrees, tops, before it ran out of fuel. Nobody lip synced!

You think the band is okay in that weather but not the singer? Instruments have just as many if not more pitch problems in that weather and they have to get a full band in tune. I've played in hot and cold weather, it is hard to keep one instrument in tune let alone the full band. Also, singers are trained (as are instrumentalists) to sing in various conditions.....she has no more excuse than the band...and the band DID play for the other soloists.
