This is not unusual. Singers have been lip syncing their recorded music forever. Maybe she had a sore throat or other reason why she was unable to sing that day and rather than back out or chance a bad performance she decided to be safe and use her pre-recorded version. This is no big deal and I don't even know why people are talking about it.
Did you know that she and her sister always dry clean their outfits before returning them to the designers that loaned them the outfits for special events? Yeah, class act these two ladies are. Never heard that about any other star. So lay off the criticism of Beyonce. I'm not a fan of her music, but I know a class act when I see one.

There was barely a dry eye during Beyonce's note-perfect performance of the "Star Spangled Banner" during President Barack Obama's inauguration on Monday. But now, much to the disappointment of fans, it has been revealed that she wasn't actually singing: she was lip-synching.
Apparently, a rep for the United States Marine Band, who accompanied Beyonce, has explained to the New York Post that "All music is pre-recorded for the ceremony because there are so many eventualities and conditions that day."

The rep, Kristin DuBois, revealed that “We performed, live, the band. But we received last-minute word that Beyonce was going to use the pre-recorded vocal track. Those were the instructions we were given." She added "We don’t know what the (sic) reason why.” However, a rep for Kelly Clarkson has said that "Kelly did sing live." Have you lost respect for Beyonce as an artist?

the weather or otherwise, then she was very unlikely to have whole lot of
say so, in regards to the entire matter.

Kelley Clarkson performed without a pre-recorded lipsink performance. I respect Kelly.
