Beyonce Directing Documentary About Herself: Entertaining or Egotistical?

Beyonce Knowles -- documentary film director? Yup, that's the word on the street ... but the person she's making a documentary about is ... herself. B and her reps have been hawking a film about the superstar's life and career, including concert footage and confessional interviews, a source tells The Los Angeles Times.

Beyonce will produce, direct and star, according to the report, which has us wondering: Do we really need another "behind the music" type of movie? First Justin Bieber, then Katy Perry, then Beyonce ... at least Angelina Jolie is making movies about war-torn nations!

That said, we love Beyonce, and we'd check out the movie just to see cute family footage of Beyonce, Jay-Z and baby Blue Ivy. Do you think Beyonce's documentary sounds entertaining? Or egotistical?

    She hasn't lived long enough in my opinion to make a documentary about herself. What great things has she done to make it worth your time to see? Because someone has put her on a pedistal and told her she's above everyone else? Not worth my time.

    Well, what do you expect? It's a movie about HER, and she has every right to want to be in control of it. What if somebody was making a movie about you and your life, wouldn't you feel a little on edge and want to have a say in it too?

    Bad enough she done stole the spotlight from all the other girls in the group Destiny's Child. Bad enough the world has to see her in almost every magazine and in every commercial. Bad enough she got on some award show (on MTV) and showed her baby bump to the world. She got a boatload of money, a man worth millions (maybe more), a bunch of awards and music videos, and a baby. We don't care to watch a documentary about Beyonce; we see enough of Beyonce as it is. She needs to step out of the spotlight and let someone else shine for a while.

    I'd honestly rather go watch the Bieber or Perry one then Beyonce's. I don't care about her hanging out with Gwyneth Paltrow or how spoiled her kid is in between her dancing to single ladies. She's really not that interesting. Just my opinon

    I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, you're supposed to "write what you know", or in this case, it would be make a film about what you know, and she obviously knows herself the best. Also, other singers/celebrities have made documentaries about themselves (for example, Katy Perry), and no one has given them grief about it. On the other hand, I have a feeling that this documentary is going to be boring, bland, and manufactured, just like she is.

    Idk, maybe it's just me, but there's some very unsettling about Beyonce. Doesn't she seem too perfect? I mean I never here anything bad about her. Doesn't she ever "slip-up", make mistakes? Even in interviews, she seems so "fake" and robotic. I feel like we don't know who the "real" Beyonce is, and that she's hiding some dark secret.

    It would be different if someone else was directing. By her directing her own documentary it seems like she wanted a movie about herself and decided she was going to make it.

    If people approach you and say, "You're fascinating, you're an inspiration, we'd like to film your life for a movie." That's fine. You jump and cry and be happy. When you go to others and say, "I'm fascinating, I'm an inspiration, make a freaking movie about me!" That's just beyond egotistical, especially for Beyonce. Did she not think that they'd make a movie about her at some point anyway? It's not like she hasn't been a force to reckon with in the music world for the past 10 years, and hasn't been an idol for many girls and women. Be patient, B!

    Someone REALLY needs to tell this woman that she is TOO old to still be acting this way.
