    You missed John Paul Jones.

I do not believe I could pick a best out of that group. Jack Bruce's work with Cream is outstanding. Geezer Butler's style is very influential. John Entwistle's use of roundwound strings probably turned more people on to and sold more roundwound strings than anyone this side of Chris Squire. Paul McCartney is very clever, and as influential as James Jamerson, which is saying something. Bill Wyman is probably the most underrated bassist in classic rock, and most people do not even know he played fretless bass most of the time. Steve Harris probably got more rock people interested in flatwound strings than anyone this side of Phil Lynott, and his style is certainly unique. David Ellefson's precision and speed are essential to playing Metal nowadays. And Duff McKagen brought the groove and swing back into Hard Rock and Heavy Metal. All very important players.

Although every time I watch videos, he always does that same 'staring into space' expression :') Ah I love him. My Generation. Just, that song does not need words :') Ever since I first watched Quadrophenia, that song has been like my theme song

Going to have to go with Steve on this one - though I think all of these guys are great!

I went with the classic, Cream was one of those bands that no one during that time could really classify because they were a rock band that sounded like a loud version of the blues.

They're all great, and I'd like to add Mel Shacher of Grand Funk Railroad.

How about not any of these? Where is that option? Bcause none of these guys even know what to do with a bass in comparison to Les Claypool.
You don't have to like his music... but there simply is no argument to the fact that he has the skill level equal to that of a mad scientist!
